You could try making one, a victoria sandwich is dead easy to make. They taste alot better than shop bought too! :)

tesco do a chocolate 'party' cake, not bad size either

What about a photo cake? Both Asda and Tesco do them and they can put any picture you want on it. Think they are reasonable price too.

[COLOR=Purple]how about doing lots of http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:UH51hjKGldcJ:i.ivillage.com/stuffwelove/Oct2007/F/cupcake_stand4_325.jpg fairy cakes... and ice 'sweet nothings' on the top of each of them... or ice them and cover with love hearts, ... and blow up balloons and before knotting the balloon write love notes and put them in the balloon ... (slightly off topic, but getting carried away!!)....

buy three victoria sponges and put on large tray stick together with icing sugar and decorate like Mickey or Minnie Mouse - 2 for ear and one for face, just get some red and black food colouring and these look great, fun to do too

Delia online has good recipes for cakes and they taste far nicer than shop bought cakes. Plus it's pretty satisfying making it, and also for the person receving it, to know someone's baked one specially for you is a lovely feeling.
Also, price wise, it's cheaper to make it yourself.

Thorntons do some nice cakes - and if you can go in 1-2 days before you need it they're quite often reduced.
