Hi all,
RIght for xmas im going to ask for a TOMTOM.
I have been told that a tomtom720 is it? Is a good one to go for.
Basically im 20, a student but would like UK and EU maps etc.

Also want bluetooth, and handsfree kit to link to my phone.

Is this a good one to go for?
Or any alternatives that are better?

Is there anything in a satnav these days THAT YOU MUST HAVE.

Hi there, i know Tom Tom is good but i personally can't see past Garmin and i have just bagged a bargain on one from the states, the 850 model, (860 in this country, got it yesterday) much cheaper than UK but only prob is you then have to get UK & Europe maps from Garmin, cost approx £80 but still loads cheaper than UK. Either search on Ebay for a low buy it now or stick to a max bid if auction. This model has voice activated feature so you can just speak where you want to go and it will! plus loads more features!

Got a cracking bargain few days ago on a tomtom 920t. It is superb, got bluetooth, handsfree, traffic, everything you need. They retail at like £200 and i got it for £169.99. PM and i'll sort you out with the info.

920 has US/CAN maps, the (t) models are traffic so in example a 720t is better than a 920, unless t off course.

720t is the best tt if not going beyond europe however i recommend garmin

You don't get a remote int he box of the 720t do you? You only get 2gb of internal memory as opposed to the 4gb internal memory in the 920t. You don't get Enhanced Positioning Technology in the 720t as you do in the 920t. You don't get America and Canada maps either.

All reason why the 920t is better than the 720t.

As for my quick review. Very impressed. Having used tomtom on my pda switching to a tomtom unit is much better. A lot of features and just so quick at getting a gps fix. I was in my house and it took less than 10secs to get a fix. In the car it is almost instant. I took off the American and Canadian maps because they took up 1.9gb of internal memory and i would rather store my music on it rather than maps i am never gonna go. When i drive to italy next i will try it out and see how long the battery lasts but up to now using it as satnav and phone handsfree at the same time it is using an eighth/sixth of battery power a day.

Not that many good deals on the TomTom GO 720 at the moment, but there are loads on the level up unit the GO 920T! Plus if you buy brand new you can upgrade the software to the equivalent of a GO 930T for free. Simply connect your device to TomTom Home using your computer.

I would go for the Dixons deal thats available. £199.99 for the unit, but you can get that price down to £184.99 using two codes: "Save5" and then "TT920T"

I've got an older version of the Navigo from Ebuyer that runs TomTom V6 fine, and I see they now do one with an FM transmitter & bluetooth for £70 delivered
