I just downloaded the original Half-Life anthology from Steam (not the Source version, which has a much larger processing/graphics requirement). Cost $17.60ish for Half Life, Opposing Force, Blue Shift and Team Fortress Classic

get one of the original fallout games - should pick one up for a few quid on ebay or in game shops.

Doesnt require much, but theyre quality games.

Failing that, warcraft 2 or 3.

Just been playing Black & White again.
Runs darn smooth. :D

The SiS graphics chip might be a problem, their drivers are even worse than intel's so you could get it refusing to run games that it should be fast enough for. Nothing you can do about it though.

Any of the old classics you can get your hands on are worth picking up (I don't know why they're not still availible). Monkey island, thief 1 and 2, fallout 1 and 2, total annihilation, starcraft, etc. etc.

For more recent games try Codename panzers (RTS), Baldurs Gate II, Neverwinter Nights (both expansions are a must, and hours browsing NWVault), Knights of the Old Republic, Morrowind, Call of Duty 1 and 2, Sim City 3000 (or 4 if you can't get that), All of the mechwarrior games (Mechwarrior: Mercenaries was the most recent), Unreal Tournament 2004, Medieval: Total War (RTS), Space Rangers (a little known classic), Freedom force, American McGee's Scrapland (another one) and heroes of annihilated empires (RTS). Oh, and warcraft III is decent.

its all this gathering wood n moving through the ages that loses me other than that its ok, really hoping to find a millitary RTS game similar to command & conquer but with lower system requirements

As autolesbona says, Age of empires is one of the simpler games out there. If you like even simpler than Warcraft III has a similar style to C&C and Codename Panzers has no base building at all.

The reason I like TA is that it lets you do all the things other strategy games won't. Want to swarm the base with five hundred tanks? Go ahead. Want to make drive by attacks? The units can shoot on the move. Want to build a monotaur's maze outside your base with a nuclear mine at the center? That's perfectly possible. As it's 11 years old it can be hard to get hold of though, especially as the Core Contingency expansion pack is pretty essential to the experience.
