As above really, I downloaded AVG which was good but only lasted
for 30 days ( did I download the wrong one? )
Are there any others out there that work well?
I really cannot get on with mcafee which is free with sky it makes
the whole computer run soooooooooo slow ( is this always
the case or does anone use the mcafee? )
Any help really appreciated

you need to click the one on the left (free basic protection)
just a question.. what version of AVG do you have?.. go to help, and find the version number and everything and post here...

I prefer it as it's not very demanding on the system resources.

I've recently switched from AVG Free to Avira:

Works very well, and it now gets better reviews than AVG. See PC Pro, for example.

AVG is completely free so you likely downloaded a trial version of their paid for product.

Avast also do a free AV product.

However as NewBold says Avira is the best free AV around at the moment, faster and more effective than the others

For a paid anti-virus program , look no further than Kaspersky , but for a freebe Avast is very good , AVG comes second .

I use ESET NOD on a couple of laptops and that is excelent too .I'm using the FIXED trial .

Oh , I dont think I'm allowed to say that !! :-)

Download AVG Free @ Download.com (the AVG website will send you there anyway)

It sound like you had a 30 day trial of the paid version - this is the free one. I use this, in conjuction with Spybot, Ad-Aware and Advanced System Care - all free programs also.
Thanks people for all you help/advice etc.
I will download avg again I think.
Rep left to all for the the really quick help
Thanks again.........
