ok long story short.....

my wife was married in 1993 in the regisrty office and the bloke she married told them that he was never married before but he was. He married a girl in Germany when he was in the service and my wife is not 100% sure that he was even devorced. She devorced this bloke in 2001 and we got married in 2001. she is trying to get an anullment from that marriage so that we can have our marriage blessed.

How can we find out if he was ever divorced ?

Yes to get a divorce the court first has to satisy itself the marriage was legal in the first place and has broke down so an annulment may be hard.

What does it say on the original marriage cert, as when applying for a licence you have to show your decree, so if it shows him as single he lied to the registrar, your wife then needs to speak to someone of legal standing and try to find out where she would start tracking down the divorce as marrying in Germany does not mean he divorced there, especially if in service.

Didnt know that, I thought an annulment could only happen within so long of being married, but i'm not a legal expert so what do I know lol.

That's what I said, I agree I thought it was one or the other I don't know with divorce I do know that the marriage still stands so to speak. You can't be divorced from a marriage that never was if you see what i mean, but that's kind of what an annulment is isn't it? So I thought it would be one or the other two. But not my thing either lol!

So what you're saying is the OP has done his best at confusing us both lol.

As you said if he was already married before then there marriage was null and void anyways, I'd imagine Germany has a place they can phone about marriages etc.

when he went in front of the registrar he said he has never been married which was was so thats pergery. she also says that there was some divorce proceedings going on but dowsn't think it was ever finalized as she never saw a decree or anything

Ohh in which case seek some legal advice see if it can be done and remember he may not of been divorced in Germany. So look here to or anywhere else he served.

Yeah but a divorce has been granted so I dont see how she can then turn around and get an annulment.

Neither do I as a divorce is actually acknowledging the legality of the marriage in the first place to disolve it.

I would deffo get proper legal advice op to see if it can be done and they can help you with the technicalities if it can.

Does the blessing really matter? Seriously?
