I am starting my uni this monday at Wolverhampton University and would like to park my car cheap or free for all day somewhere near to it. I had a look for park and ride the only option i found was by bilston road. I am not from wolverhampton i need to drive from Birmingham.
Iam thinking different ways of travelling as well (train) not bus as it will take long time reaching.

I live in Birmingham and attend Wolverhampton Uni - your better off catching the train!

I drive in on the odd days, but parking is terrible and expensive, not to mention the traffic...

train is 20 minutes from birmingham - walk of 5 mins to university

Depends on where you live, I catch it from Smethwick which is 11 mins to Wolverhampton - I park my car in the residential area for the day as its free.

Do you take daily ticket or is there any monthly train pass kind of thing.

A few options: Nearest first

1) Underground carpark, just off the little roundabout infront of the Uni, You pay when you get back, and the amount is obviously dependant on how long youve left your car there.

2) Wolves football stadium carpark, i think its £2.50 or £3 for all day. Theres a subway sortcut to the University, about 4 min walk (max)

3) Park in the Asda Carpark - £1 for 2 hours, (but you need to come back and get a new ticket every 2 hours) worked for me on the days when i only had 2 hour lectures. (6 min walk)

I buy my ticket daily... I only have 2-3 full days of lectures a week, so don't need to attend Uni everyday sot works out cheaper for me to buy my ticket as and when I need it rather than the monthly pass. But then, it depends on what time your lectures start, as its usually £5.10 return before 9:30am and £3.40 after - so when I had a 10am lecture start I can get the cheaper ticket.

Because Smethwick falls in 'Zone 2' and Wolverhampton falls in the farthest 'Zone 5' for the monthly passes, it worked out being £43.50 per mth (direct debit) or £48.70 (non direct debit). So it depends what works out cheaper for you.

2 weeks until I start year 2, after 4mths off... It all seems too close now :(

Thats a long time to find a parking space and I'm pleased for you. Now don't move your car as it could take another 3 years again!!!

If it helps the halls of residence car parks do not get monitored so you can park on those for free i.e. Randall Lines opposite asda but lots of people have cottoned on to this
