........is this something that is easy to get done? Where would I enquire about it? What sort of place does this?
I have seen places on the internet but I really dont want to send the medal off to be done.
My mind has gone totally blank as to where I would start looking :O)

Yes definitely a picture framer's is the way to go, they can do a beautiful job. Where in the country are you? I know a couple of good ones but obvously it depends where you are.

Just an idea.....I saw some done and instead of an engraved plaque they had the details written in beautiful calligraphy. I thought this looked really good and was nice and clear on a white background. It had a nice "ceremonial" look to it. Also, if you really want an engraving, you could think about getting a hand engraver to do it. The difference between hand and machine engraved is massive, hand done looks so much better, although one is quite a lot more expensive than the other. I am thinking of getting this done for my grandfather's medals but haven't decided exactly how I want them done yet.

we got one for my hubbys medals - not quite sure where we got it from now but it looks very smart up on the wall with the medals and cap badges and flashes around them :)
Thanks for all your help, going to ring a couple of picture framers tomorrow and also some trophy shops and see what they can do, rep to all xx ( except Moo, apparently I have given you too much :) )
