loosing the last few pounds

i have managed to lose 3 stone in 4 and a half months but im really struggling to lose the last stone to get to my goal weight,was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on kick starting the weight loss again or tried any diet pills etc?

i eat special k or weetabix for brekfast
a sandwich (just 2 slices of bread) with chicken and salad
then i eat a weight watchers meals for tea with a bag of the steam fresh veg and a corn on the cob or salmon and veg or salad
then i have a muller light in the evening

ive got used to eating smaller amounts and i dont really fancy eating what i cook for the rest of them anymore xx

Really well done - thats fantastic!!
I follow a version of south beach and GI diet. When I put a bit of weight on or slow down I go back on it properly, cut out alcohol, grains and potatoes, boost up the salads, fruit and veg and make sure I walk every day.
Gets harder as I get older, but never mind. I havn't lost as much as you but the last bit of weight to lose is always the hardest. At least its the summer so you can eat salads and not feel deprived.

no tablets didnt really work lol tbh nothing has worked for years then in my last pregnancy i just tried to watch what i eat so i didnt pile it on then as soon as i had him i started on the diet and luckily it worked.
all the other times i have tried to lose weight i would be exercising loads too but this time i havent had much time to start the classes again so ive just dieted and exercised when i can and it seems to have worked better

Well done, please pass on the common sense approach to others, simply eat a bit less do a bit of exercise, and have patience and it will work, no tablets, no mad diets, so simple.

its really helped with my confidense too.and its a confidense boost when everytime i see someone i havent seen for a while they comment on my weight and how good i look etc

will look into them diets thanks.

im hoping to be a size 10 by oct for our hols im in a 12 atm but some 12s are too big.i just wish i could carry on losing it as well as i have done so far

well not altogether as im sure you wont get to see yourself with the weight you would have lost as youll probably be dead or close to it, but true it works lol i lost 5 stone in a month and half, but just had cereal and something small in evening, stick at it and youll do well, and good luck with it

thanks for advice.not sure i could eat any less than i am though the weight watchers meals are tiny but ive got used to eating that amount now

Reduce calories by substituting one of your foods-I suggest instead of the chicken/salmon sandwich which could contain 300+ calories eat a salad with 150 calories.

When you're on your holiday, eat grains of sand from the beach... they're not very tasty, but they are properly low in calories !

wow well done edjaned!! u got any before after pics? i know you have been struggling with your weight for a long time and 3 stone in 4months is really impressive!!

if you are looking to shave off some calories then make sure you are only drinking water.....i think that alot of people forget about this whilst trying to lose weight....they cut down on food but still drink fizzy drinks.....even something like ribena 500ml bottle is over 200calories.....carry on running with a slightly lower calorie intake and that last stone will be gone in no time.

i think i will give the grains of sand a miss thanks maybe a little dry to taste

luke i dont think i have as i never like having my pics done,my bf may have some on his phone that he took in the hospital after i had baby not sure if u would be able to see all my "fatness" though as i was in bed

i drink alot of tea and coffee with sweetner but i use that really low milk that tastes like white water,if i do drink pop its usually pepsi max.

hopefully i will be able to get to under 10 stone for my holiday (12 pound to go) i did go up to 13.10lb and luckily ive avoided getting stretchys so im hoping to wear a bikini for the 1st time in about 10 yrs

havent u got to eat loads of meat on that and u are not allowed any milk?
i dont eat alot of meat so dont think i could stomach it

Good job on the weight loss!

Tea and coffee will still have calories in even though you're using sweetner and skimmed milk. See if you can try and cut down the number of cups and replace some with water on its own.

You are probably reaching your natural optimum weight and losing any more by calorie intake is going to be very hard. Exercise / more exercise is probably the best way.

At the end of the day you can keep cutting back with food but unless you stay on that strict diet (which is more or less impossible) it will start to come back on.

Rather than trying to cut back on food eat the same food but burn it off.

yes should drink more water.i know after a couple of weeks of drinking water i get used to it and it doesnt bother me having it instead of a brew but its just starting to drink it again

has pepsi max got calories? what if i just drank tea or coffee in the day then had the pepsi max in the evenings

debz i didnt really eat much chocolate anyway,so that only bothers me occasionly mainly when i see peanut m&ms

i just miss having a takeaway at the weekend and sometimes it bothers me cooking a big meal for all the others then i have to eat a tiny weight watchers meal again

I would have thought it said what calories were in it on the side of the can,my ordinary Pepsi does,it has 139 cals.

That must be so difficult cooking other food and not being able to eat it arghhh

There are loads of weightwatchers recipes you can cook yourself which are much nicer than the packet stuff, you can have bigger portions and you will probably find that the kids like it too as it is usually something different to the same old tea parent dish up these days.

For example there are some really nice weightwatchers currry recipes that you would be hard pushed to realise they were.

just checked again as i only saw energy level on bottle b4,calories are 1 per 250ml

and yeah it does my head in but ive got used to it now

Well done, that's a great achievement!

Don't get frustrated because the last bit seems to take ages, your body is adjusting and weight loss will stagnate.
What I recommend anyone who seems to not be able to lose the last bit, keep a food diary.
Write down everything you eat a day, just to see how much you actually eat.
The amount of times I was surprised how many little handfuls of cereals here and there, a bite of this and that has mounted up to...

Portion size is a big issue, eating a huge amount of lower calorie stuff won't help, fill up on vege first, then move onto the main.
A little bit of exercise also helps, not suggesting the gym but a walk everyday.

Never ever ever ever skip breakfast, it will kick start your metabolism which is a good thing, holding out until lunch will only result in overeating.

If you eat a lot of fruit during the day maybe you should think about cutting that down too as they contain a lot of sugar and I know some people who will put on weight when eating too much fruit, they seem to be quite sensitive to fructose.

And stay away from diet pills or anything that promises you easy fast weight loss, if it was so easy then people wouldn't be overweight.
Also learn what your body should be like naturally, if your body type is in the healthy average then it'd be tortute to try and lose more weight than that, being happy is much more important than being a certain size.

Treat yourself, denying everything that's great will only make you depressed.

I personally would stay away from sweetener, they make me go in hunger rages. They are in sooo many things, most low fat yoghurts!

Ah no worries, just thought it would be cool to see a 3stone transformation in 4months!

Pepsi max doesn't have any calories nope but has massive amounts of caffeine so drinking in the evening isn't really a good idea if you are drinking it close to bedtime, your bf will be snoring whilst you are wide awake....if you have high blood pressure you shouldn't really b drinking stuff with alot of caffeine but in small amounts I don't think that would be harmful.

Tea and coffee are both good for you just don't drink excessive amounts. You are probably better off then trying a little more exercise and hopefully that little bit more effort will pay off!

Try swapping the sandwich for something else every other day, eating a bit less bread may help...

I used to drink a lot of diet coke, pepsi max etc when trying to lose weight. A couple of years ago I had a bone density scan. They told me I had osteoporosis and told me to keep a food diary so they could see if I was eating enough calcium. When they saw coke and pepsi in the diary they told me to stop drinking it straight away because the phosphoric acid in it justs eats and rots away bones. Apparently this is well known but I had never realised it was a problem. The doctor said they wanted it banned!
I don't drink it now and my bones have not got any worse.
Take care if you drink it although I know a lot of people like the taste - I did.

My OH needs to lose half a stone,he eats alot of fruit and he has too many carbs,but he doesn't listen to me lol

I don't really eat bread, I've swapped it for Ryvita. They're only 42 cal each, and you can substitute one of those for a piece of bread. I quite like them now with a tasty filling like tuna or lean ham with plenty of salad. I know it's not much but you can prob save 100-150 cals doing that.

i dint realise pepsi max was soo bad i will be giving that a miss from now on thanks

dont really think there is much point doing a food diary as i never eat anything else apart from breakfast,dinner and tea not even a chewing gum
