if its a oystercard, you can cancel it and they will reissue you a new one.

I don't know what a Travelcard is, but the monthly bus pass here in Edinburgh costs £45, so I'm guessing your thing must've set you back a few quid. Sympathies, dude.

Look up in their website for info on lost/stolen cards. Or directly contact them and see if they'll cancel you old and re-issue a new, most probably they will.

Also if its any consolation i have misplaced/lost my phone with dead battery (was dying at the time i last saw it over the weekend) Can't find it in the usual and unsual places at home too. :|

I would of thought when spending that much on a card there would be some type of security for a lost card :( Fingers crossed its handed in, But for that value I don't think it will be. Just worth going back to the issuer and getting it cancelled and hopefully a new one issued. x

Holy **** :|

As Marina says, give them a shout, and they should be able to do something for you. Dig out your credit card statements and find the date and time of the transaction, they might be able to marry your transaction with the card number, cancel the lost card, and issue you a new one. Hopefully, anyway. I can't believe they'd sell a £2k card with no means to recover it if it gets lost, so there's got to be a way.

Thats awful, hope you can cancel it and get a new one

Same here - DD lost her student one (£40) but LRT issued a replacement for £3 no problem with the same amount of time left to run as the old one. Surely a yearly pass will have same sort of cover - pay X amount for replacement?

2 grand!?!! woah thats a big hit!

To buy a monthly or an annual you need to register your oyster.

Stop being such a pansy and walk into the nearest station, give them your name and post code and even those monkeys should be able to find you on the system.

have you looked under your keyboard?

The network railcard that i bought for £25 has a backup plan that if you lose it you just have to go to the station with your receipt and they will reissue for a fiver. I can't see similar not happening for something that cost £2K!

That's what I said too - if they don't and it was me I'd have that in my house insurance for that kind of money lol

cant go station till later thankfully i took a photo of the actual card when i bought it and still have the receipt! These train people seem to have difficulty in answering the question ' Can you look up the purchase transaction and just cancel it for a refund!' Arghghhh!
#21
Dont know if you have some kind of personal insurance, might cover it?

Just bought a 3 month bus pass for £133, i'd be gutted if i lost it. On that it says if lost it cant be replaced. Didnt even get a receipt when they gave it me!

I use Network One Traveltickets (North East) I pay £77 per month for mine, it states in their T&Cs that lost or stolen cards wont be replaced. Luckily ive only lost mine twice in the 4 years ive been buying them and found it twice!!

Good luck, hope it turns up x

If you paid for it by credit card it might be covered under that

Must be lucky in Nottingham...

NCT have an oyster-like system. It costs £2 if your card is damaged/lost/stolen and is frozen as soon as you call up (so you lose no time on it)

Because Oyster cards are used in the rest of the country. My dad's annual pass is like £1250 (but he got it for free), and it's just a crappy piece of paper, if he lost that people could still use, you can't cancel paper, hopefully they'd replace it but I do, bt they'd have to.

This is very true. If the travelpass was just issued on paper it's highly unlikely you will be able to get a replacement as there is no means of cancelling it cos all the ticket inspectors would have to look at every number on the ticket to spot it it which just won't happen as they don't have the time. A smartcard (oyster card) is a whole different ball game as they can cancel it on the system which will then blacklist the card and stop it being used.
I do hope it turns up.

About 7 years ago I lost my monthly travelcard about a week into it which was a paper one at the time (pre compulsory Oyster) and was gutted as it cost £120 or something. I went back to the issuing station armed with my cc statement and receipt and I don’t know whether it was because I had been buying my tickets from them for ages, they just re-issued it free of charge.

It’s probably all changed now since but I hope if you do the same you get a good result. I know that feeling of sheer panic when you realise your travelcard is not where it is supposed to be, and £2k, damn. :(

Out of interest, how come you didn’t put it on an Oyster and went with paper ticket?
#30
well i managed to get a duplicate after paying a £20 admin fee. But they wouldnt refund the payment so i could rebuy a season on an oystercard instead of getting another paper one. So this whole thing has cost be £20 + £8 for todays travelcard
its rediculous, these paper tickets are worthless and as for the 'serial numbers' on there where it supposedly tracks the record of the card is worthless!!

I was originally told I couldnt buy a travelcard on an oyster because its 2 separate companies. National rail and tfl!! (which is crap!!) and the station where i bought it doesnt have the facility for oyster!! The guy at the counter said the staff there arent even trained for oyster!!
:(

Now to get a new gym card!!!!!!
