hi my partner took our daughter for a walk earlier and somehow has managed to lose the keys which had the car key on, luckily it was the key to our crappy car lol we dont have a spare one, does anyone know how much it can cost to get a replacment, its a T reg ford ka. as of next weekend were taking it off the road anyway as not worth putting it through the MOT but we will need to move it. he has gone back and had a look to see if he could see it but someone must of picked it up.

Ah if scrap you could have just got it towed away. But otherwise with key replacement no ideas im afraid.

Go to Timpsons and ask them?
Do you know if it was one of those keys with a chip inside, because it'll be over £100 in that case.
Do you have an AA/RAC membership? If so, call them out and ask them to move it for you.

im not sure if it has a chip, its not got one of them buttons which unlocks the car when you press it. i think if its going to cost over £100 then will just scrap it.

im prety sure a T reg Ka would have a imobiliser chip in the key. call ford and ask how much it will cost it could be something like £80.

ring up your local ford dealers. they can get keys for you on production of your v5 (registration document)
they'll tell you how much it'll cost you

It sounds silly, but could the key be inside the car?
If you have searched everywhere else, it might be in there.

thanks will give them a call tomorrow,

also does anyone know if i was to scrap it would i be better doing it with a local scrap yard or i was thinking of maybe advertising it on ebay if anyone wanted any parts from it, it also has leather seats, cd player and some speakers in the boot, there nothing special just what was in it when i bought it few years ago.

hes definitely lost it while out, its on the same keyring as the door key, we have another door key so not to worried about that as we have other locks on the door to secure it. not that whoever found the keys would know where we live. (hopefully)

Maybe you could put a notice up (laminated or in a clear plastic folder) along the walk saying 'LOST KEYS' with some details like colour, how many, when lost etc. and your mobile number?

unless you have a key or know the number/code you are gonna have to goto ford i think.........major bucks

or have the locks and ignition changed from a scrappers

sure someone will give you couple of hundred or something for it on ebay.......

If a ford dealership can cut the key and tell you which part number it is for the chip part
The cheapest place is ebay but you still need an auto lock smith to set it up for you..

I paid about £25 for a the fob key from ebay. £5 for the key cut at ring ways which clips to the fob. and £50 for it programming..

anything up to £250 for a replacement immobilzer key

Have you been to your local police station and asked if some one has handed the keys in ?
