Lost my iPhone yesturday - no insurance! 6 months into contract... Options!?!?

  Usually they would make you buy out your contract. Best thing to do I would say is buy a phone and ride it out.

  buy a new phone and take out insurance this time! banks normally offer phone insurance etc...

  hmm no didnt think of contacting police - good idea, because i blocked my phone for use within 20minutes of using it - so you would think the person with it would realise it cant be used and get rid - ideally give to cops, but other people would probably go on the net and unblock it....

  I said to the security guys about looking at the cctv etc but also mentioned this to the cops and they said it wouldnt be much use as they are not treating it as theft at this point

  i mentioned that to my sister who works in insurance and she says that it would work out very expensive making a house insurance claim - paying the excess and then it would make the premium much higher the next year :/

  I lost my phone once, called up Orange and they said that if i took out insurance for the remainder of my contract and paid an excess i could get the phones replaced, might be worth speaking to them about options

  I rang o2 up about the phone blocking and they said with the iphone, it blocks the phone as well as the signal - because told him i did not want people accessing my email/photos/phone book - and he confirmed that this would all be blocked on my phone - so it must be different from usual phones

  even with making the premium higher next year i would have thought it would still be a lot cheaper than buying another iphone surely :?

  From what I know it does fully block the phone from being used in anyway, however its prety simple to unlock and change the imei using a program (anyone can do it), I doubt they'd be able to get pics and emails and so on.
  
  I feel for you! I'd hate to lose mine =[ When you rang o2 did they give you any other options?
  If you do get a new phone thats quite expensive you can get insurance to cover it for about £5 a month.

  i read on an o2 forum about getting a replacement phone which is £352 - but dont want to pay that huge amount - ill just get a cheapish sony ericsson - that point made about Orange offering a replacement phone if they took insurance and paid the excess - that would be great if it was possible for the iphone - doubt it though somehow

  Can you not claim on your home insurance?
  I also have phone insurance with my bank so it might be worth checking to see if they do it.........

  Will look into home insurance - although its not my house, my parents house.

  Depends what your excess is, see if you have personal posessions cover.
  
  Look into insurance definately next time.
  
  When I got my 3GS I went straight to Lloyds TSB and insured mine. £7 a month gets me insurance up to £2000. AA breakdown cover, european travel insurance and airmiles.

  hey if you don't mind can you tell me how and what phone is yours... my phone got stolen yesterday ... its just two months since my contact started..... its an iphone 5 ... i am soo sad
  now i dont have a phone right now
