Ah excellent - will be on shift when Lost is shown so was going to make sure I had it set to record, will be able to watch it tonight now.

Have to admit I didn't like the idea of Anytime originally but I often find myself watching interesting films or programs that are on Anytime and I wouldn't watched normally.

Cant remember the last time I checked what it had recorded on anytime! Suppose this is a reminder to do so! :p

I think it's worth doing - it only takes a moment and if there's anything there you want but don't have time to watch you can just hit record which transfer it to your standard Sky+ recorded programs. It is pretty hit and miss, a lot of the programs aren't of interest to me but on the positives you often get a film or TV series premier before it is aired on Sky and I often find interesting documentaries which I would have missed. Most recently they've had a few good air crash investigation round ups on, got the Sky+ box set to record the standard episodes now.

I've disabled Anytime, it caused my Sky+ box to always be on even when it was in standby throwing out all claims by Sky that going red means going green, prats!

I would agree with you - but most of the stuff it records is scrambled as I only pay for the basic package. But yes, when I have previously checked there was something to watch - which was useful 'cos there was naf all on at the time!!!!

Thats the beauty of my Sat sytem though!!! There is *always* something worth watching. Im not even sure why I pay for $ky!

Not entirely sure what you mean - the system can still record when it's in standby, disabling anytime doesn't really make any difference there.

Anytime records 80GB of programs that I don't want to watch (I bet 80% of which you don't want to watch) while it is recording that 80GB of programs I don't want to watch it is using as much power as it would if it was switched on. By disabling anytime I'm saving electricity for stuff I want to watch...i.e. when it is recording the fan is whirring and the hard drive is a'ticking.

You don't need to 'bet', I made that perfectly clear in my post above. Additionally as I also said in my above post, the Sky+ box records the anytime footage while in standby mode - it does not use as much power as when the system is switched on as it isn't actually producing a picture for the screen. If you actually want to save power, pull the power lead out as even when the system is on standby it still keeps most of the major components powered up, it's just their sitting idle. In fact you could argue that Anytime is actually more efficient as it's doing something with that power rather than just using the power to idle the components.

okay you made me do this....
Anytime off = 16 watt / 28 VA (Apparent power)
Anytime on = 26 watt / 44 VA
Sky on = 28 watt / 49 VA

ta da
