Louis Vuitton takes Google to court
Louis Vuitton and Google are to go head-to-head in court over accusations from the designer brand that Google is helping to promote fake designer goods.
LMVH has criticised the search engines policy of selling keywords to the highest bidder, including brand names such as Vuitton.
The company claims that this damages the brand, as people who search Google for Louis Vuitton merchandise may be shown search results including advertisements for rival, or even fake Louis Vuitton goods.
"Google's advertisement activities have given companies which sell fake products unprecedented visibility beyond their wildest dreams," Patrice de Cande, a Louis Vuitton lawyer, told the European Court of Justice on Tuesday.
