I think radiotherapy or laser treatment are the best ways. Surgery often makes them come back worse.

See a doctor?

It's caused by damage to your skin tissue and it clumps and makes a thick scar. I have one from my TB jab when i was a kid.

Laser treatment won't do much and especially not radiotherapy! You could have it removed but it's pretty unnecessary. As Syzable says, it caused by damage (ie trauma) to your skin and is very common.

Radiotherapy is known to reduce scar tissue as it breaks it down. No-one in this country would do it though X)

used to get this on one of my tats years ago ...
It was only on the yellow colour and mostly in sunny weather ..
kept coming back for a couple of years but has gone now for 10 years or more..
I put it done to reaction with the yellow ink ??

I get that from time to time on one of my tats on the outline. It's an allergy with the ink. A hayfever pill and it goes. :)

If its keloid scarring it will be fine, just not very pretty, although one of my keloids I got after an operation didn't stop "healing" and getting bigger for 2 years, ended up about an inch long and half an inch thick............proper unattractive, thankfully it was where it was never seen and I had it removed with surgery.

There is cream to treat this (doesn't make it go away, but slows the growth apparently, dunno never needed it) but you need to get it seen by a doc and check its deffo one.

Girl I know in work ended up with horrid keloids after a tattoo and the NHS wont treat it because its self inflicted, shame, but thats what happens when you get someone's name tattooed on you, not the best of ideas ever !!!
