LXDirect.com - LXDirect are dishonouring discount codes.

Hi,

Wanted to post a thread on the forum to mention that LXDirect are dishonouring discount codes posted and furthermore they do not make their customers aware of the fact that the codes have been completely and utterly ignored and that the customers credit/debit card has indeed been charged full price for items ordered.

Been in contact with customer services who initially insisted that they could not help unless they were contacted on an 0870 number (i.e. the company is profiteering from customers contacting them by phone as well as dishonouring discount codes) however finally have categorically stated that discount codes used are invalid unless issued directly to the customer and furthermore regardless of the fact that discount codes are seemingly accepted at checkout LXDirect's terms and conditions of sale state that they have the right to charge in full for items ordered using discount codes that have not been issued directly to customers.

Am really disgruntled (not blaming hotukdeals.com by the way as discount codes are posted here in good-faith, just wanted to make others who visit the site of the situation (LXDirect dishonouring discount codes).

Am almost certain that, according to Trading Standards, terms and conditions of sale are not allowed to be unfairly weighted against a customer. Whether or not a credit card dispute will remedy the matter satisfactorily I do not know however LXDirect customer services quite simply do not want to help conclude the matter amicably (or at all).

Best Regards.

Sorry youve been having problems. I ordered the Nike Trainers for £19 and only paid £9, it told me I had the discount before I sent the order in the cart. My mum also got £13.50 off her order. Hope you get some results eventually.

Hi Russ, Thank you for your reply. Please do not get into a false sense of security as LXDirect.com customer services have advised that regardless of whether or not a discount voucher shows at checkout should the discount voucher not have been issued directly to the customer it'll be dishonoured and the customers credit/debit card will be charged for the goods ordered in full, disregarding any discount coupon that's been applied. By all accounts they're allowed to do this from what's written in their terms and conditions of sale. Shame I hadn't read through them thoroughly enough however their attitude and complete lack of understanding has made me feel very disgruntled so I'm trying to seek advice on this as I understand that companies are not allowed to weight their terms and conditions of sale unfairly against the customer or otherwise in the companies own favour. Am disputing with credit card issuer also, do not believe that a company is allowed to debit an amount entirely different to that shown at checkout.

Just my luck for the discount code not to work :-(.

Best Regards.

I got 2 pairs of trainers in 2 different transactions and got the disounts fine.

I used to work for these in one of their call centers and their systems are not very high tech to say the least so believe me there are ways to get the discount.

As for them charging you different, if the confirmation email which you where sent states the discount then u should get that discount as its an offer and acceptance situation. Note the confirmation/payment page on the site is not confirmation binding the contract, this is sent to you in an email.

They take the full amount then refund the discount to ur account. Most of the codes are now dead :( I think only 10% off and free P&P is working now

Hi Cavester, Thank you for your reply. Interesting stuff IMHO. Like I say sounds like it's just my luck that LXDirect have dishonoured the discount code used (cannot remember which one it was but was for £10.00 off and free carriage). Am almost certain that there's a confirmation e-mail somewhere in my inbox with the amount on that was shown at checkout.

I've heard of items being incorrectly advertised on Argos.co.uk and Dabs.com (not recently admittedly) whereby customers have snapped-up consumer electronics for literally pennies and that companies aren't legally obliged to sell at the advertised price unless they have confirmed the order in writing probably to cover themselves against mistakes (think that's how it works anyway!). This instance is different I guess as I've not questioned the pricing on LXDirect.com but the fact that they have dishonoured a discount code instead they promptly debited my credit card (with an amount that differs from what was confirmed (no debit followed by refund unfortunately :-( )). Am not convinced that what they've advised regarding discount codes being invalid unless the company has issued them directly to a customer is or is not fact.

Best Regards.

Hi Reef,

LXDirect.com seemed to have honoured the discount code from a statement received through yesterdays post however this morning i've received a letter from them stating that the discount that was refunded onto my credit card is being reversed because the discount was applied in error.

Further advice is being saught as, at the end of the day, LXDirect.com acknowledged my order and the order acknowledgement clearly illustrated the discount having been taken off the invoice total. Their terms and conditions of sale state that they're allowed to do this from what they have advised however i'm pretty sure that terms and conditions of sale are not allowed to be unfairly weighted against customers. Next stage is to dispute the transaction with credit card issuer and refusal of the order under the Distance Selling Regulations 2000 however i'm convinced that the postage that they'd charged won't be refunded (really could do without this).

Customer service from this company IMHO is absolutely attrocious. "we are unable to offer any assistance by e-mail, please ring us on "0870..." must be something that they're told to tell all customers who contact them by e-mail (large profits are made through these telephone numbers which IMHO is unfair as dealing with customers by e-mail is something that LXDirect.com refuse to entertain).

Best Regards.

Where do the Lx direct codes actually orginate. If there are new customer codes then it is unlikely that you received them by email.
