You can get one-sot treatments in Halfords that cost around £15 so maybe it's not Redex. Mind you for £14 I'd expect it to strip all the metal from the engine for it to be good value!

I'd query more the cost of welding 3 holes at the same time!............

As for "fuel injector cleaner", Redex was on special offer recently at 2 for £5, Maybe they stocked up?, lol!

I wasnt aware they could fail you for having holes in your car, where were they?
Am the only person in the country to use my local council test centre, who doesnt drive a taxi? I've only had one failure in my last 5 MOTs and that was because my car overheated during the test, lol.

Jeez, feels like Ive been kicked in the knackers and my wallet ain't to happy either! :giggle:

Last MOT the motor passed emissions without any hassle at all, overall it registered a 1.2(...?) with the maximum threshold of 3.5 for a TD I think? At 11 years old it runs clean and based on the emissions I SHOULD be getting cheaper tax but......... :x Which begs the question, why the expensive so call injector cleaner?

One will have to investigate!

Really depends where the holes are and what they had to do - it was fairly pricey to get my old Metro stuck back together at a garage I trust although that was entire sills and wings getting welded back on.

Ohh, I remember it well. Got my mini moted. The next day a wheel fell off.
Rang up this place in Manchester to do with mots(at the time 1980)
Was told the mot was only valid for ONE DAY.
Argued the toss with the garage. Ended up threatening them with court.
To cut a long story short, they repaired it for free.
Sold the mini a week later, and now I am pig sick. Just seen it and it sold at £1500. I sold it for £50.

Thing is people this WAS a back street garage he's been a friend of my old man for many years and has been running as a business for around 7 months. I should be grateful as this was a "Good Deal" :? Pardon, a good deal...... eh? The welding was 3 large plates and a dinky one. 2 half sill plates a 10 inch plate on one of the jacking points and a inch and a half plate on the rear, I had already preped the jacking point! To add insult to injury they didn't cover the fresh welding with under-seal... that's another job for me :x

Then there was the tyre, part worn for £19.... failed wiper blade charged for but wasn't done, a lazy caliper piston that was charged for but wasn't done.

£300, Ive been tucked up BIG time haven't I :x

word of mouth is always best recommendation when looking for a decent garage.
Last year I paid nearly 100 quid to have my ** petrol cap replaced**
lol Took it to the main dealer as i could smell petrol, Nice fat profit they made from me!
Since then i take it to a local garage and have had NO problems. You dont mind paying for work at fair price but noone likes being ripped off or over charged!
AND now i will be having a courtesy car as some taxi reversed into me( not when i was driving mind the hubs was!) He failed to take down the number plate!! CAN YOU BELIEVE HIM! Hes living with a Copper! The row he had when he got back! MEN EH !:) lol
