M&S Gluten Free Rich Fruit Cake

Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer and we take all issues regarding the production of our food extremely seriously.

Marks & Spencer has withdrawn its Gluten Free Rich Fruit Cake from sale due to a small number of packs having been incorrectly labelled. This product should not be eaten by people with a gluten intolerance / coeliac disease as the product contains wheat flour which is not shown on the label.

The product concerned is labelled as detailed below and has already been removed from stores.

Product: Gluten Free Rich Fruit cake

Display Until / Best Before date: DU 24th October 2010/ BB 30th October 2010

Unique Product Code: 00395120

Any customers in possession of this product who have an allergy/Intolerance, or who wish to exchange the product, can return it to their nearest store where a full refund will be given.

Marks and Spencer has been in contact with the UK Anaphylaxis Campaign, Irish Anaphylaxis Campaign and Allergy UK and Coelaic UK, who will inform all their members who are affected by this withdrawal

No other M&S products are affected. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.

Gotta love the way they worded it - M&S slink away from the fact they've supplied an allergen on an 'allergen free' product to sufferers who would buy the product for the aforementioned. Mental.
