Mad Insurance Prices

Well hello there,

Im 19 years old, I was going to get ready to buy a used Vauxhall Vectra VRX 07 reg with 20k miles on the clock for about £11,000. But for the heck of it I wanted to see how much insurance would cost and I get around the 5k mark. OMGWTFBBQ my dream car for the price gone down the drain. WHY SOOO MUCH?! I'm so frustrated, thats a total rip-off.

At 19 I was quoted over 4k to be insured on a peugeot 206, 53 reg, everything standard apart from alloys, parked in a garage. (worth 3k)
My dream car was the new style corsa....insurance was around the 2/3k mark for that....its daft, then they wonder why no1 has insurance!

The reason it is so expensive is that you would probably end up upside down in a ditch with some poor tenage girl at the side of you who you were trying to impress,

yeah, for my 21st I was given 5k for a car and 1st year insurance....thought 4k on car, 1k on insurance....how wrong I was!
Although at one house it was cheaper than at my other one, even though at the cheaper one my car got broke into twice!
Just reinforces the point of why bother with insurance...rediculous!

Fellow ladies and gentlemen anyone of you got any idea how I can beg for them to reduce it to 1.5k?

I ended up getting my best quote from 'the green insurance company'...run a quote through with them...and also they plant enough trees to offset your emmissions...:whistling: lol

The problem with teenagers isnt the value of the car that insurance have to pay out for,Its the pedestrians and passengers that they kill that cost the insurance compnies so much,

Oh okay, I take it my best option is to opt out of buying a car and wait till I mature abit more?

It's not the probability of hitting a tree that pushes up the price - more like a bus queue.

That's right. Let the rest of us pay instead.
(They reckon the number of uninsured drivers causing accidents is now costing honest drivers an extra £50 a year each on premiums!)

I think the most shocking thing at your age is the fact that you want to buy a Vectra?

Get something like a 3 series BM or a cooper s.

Or you could get your ma or pa to put you on their insurance, but you will have to be a named driver, not main. Up to you but if they find out they wont pay up if all goes wrong. But as you said, you are a careful driver . . .

Well its a bigger looking astra. The new ones look quite nice in my opinion. Would rather take a passat than a vectra though.
