clicky

Looks like he knew before his results, if he didn't have an offer from any of the 5.

I think the 'independent college' have some questions to answer here.

I guess he'll have a year's skiing and then go to uni. Why is it even a news story????

Exactly! Surprised that the BBC would run it tbh

They must be trying to work any new angle. X)
The old standards are falling, thousands cry/laugh/phone clearing stories are so 'last year'.
This year's buzz is how 12% or something have got A* - really sorting the wheat from the chaff. I despair.

One in 12 apparently
#7
You are right!

I must say I never really understood why they moved from norm-referencing ( like when I did my A levels!!) to criterion-referencing. It was crystal clear with the former who were the brightest!!

C'est la vie.

Makes more sense, a much better representation

thats not news lol who gives a crap about it? he should have applied to 1 uni thats not amazingly difficult to get into, his fault

his personal statement was prob crap if he didnt get any offers

So did he not get the results that he needed to get into his 1st or 2nd choice?

It didn't say he had any provisional offers, just that he didn't get any offers after results which is obvious.

If he had had provisional offers then why would this be a story at all?

He could have had a provisional from oxford but missed the grades then rejected from others after ringing around. It doesn't say. Why wouldn't he have provisional offers

He got straight A's how could he have missed the grades? When you apply to UCAS you apply to 5 universities, it listed 5 in the article so it is safe to assume they were all applied to at the same time. I never said anything about him not having provisional offers. Doesn't matter anyway as you can meet the provisional offer and still not be accepted.

Since when did they start doing A*s at A Level?!?! I did my A levels in 2006 and got 100% in one subject which was an A at the time... Is this a recent thing?!
