More heart !
more effort !
more dedication !
more honesty !

and lastly more medals than we could hope for.

Our Athletes are competing so extraordinarily well in Beijing at the moment it makes me feel unusually proud of this country.
I just hope they get the public applause that they are due when they return to Britain.

If you're not watching give it a try, chances are you'll be overwhelmed by the standard of competition.

BBCi (Red Button) Daily 10am to 4pm LIVE and repeated at various times.
BBC2 Daily 7 pm to 8pm Highlights.

Personally I'd like to thank them for providing me with some wonderful moments and awesome sport so far ! Keep it up Team GB !!

Let's hope they get the same recognition upon returning as the able bodied Olympians. Gold nose on the front of the plane and met by the Prime Minister at Heathrow. Somehow I doubt it but why shouldn't they?

Could I ask people to look out for Mel Clark who is competing in the Ladies Open Compound archery.
Shoots in the same club as me. Has been World Champion in the past and is in with a good chance of a medal.

Fingers crossed for Mel

Of course it will happen. I see no reason why it wont. Our country is very very PC so they wouldnt dare not even entertain the idea.

Amazing athletes.

Without wishing to be negative on the subject I'm not so sure we are PC enough in certain areas.
Take the television coverage and compare it against the able bodied Olympics and suddenly it becomes a little bit too prejudiced.

1 hour a night on BBC2 and tucked away on the Red Button is really not good enough to my mind and especially as the actual competition is so enthralling !!

But let's not be too negative , we could live in the USA where TV coverage is virtually non existent and the cause is not really supported at all. Disgraceful :x

A nation united i will NEVER stand.

i would be MORE than happy to sever all ties with england and be proud of my own country for its own success at the olympics!

I agree with the lack of coverage. Although, where are are too PC in some areas, we neglect it in others. I would have loved to have been able to watch a multi screen of the Paralympics. As cruel as this sounds, maybe the BBC do not see it as a money spinner so they have not attempted to purchase the rights to it being televised.

Cling to Scottish (not British) tennis players and Scottish Olympic stars. Tennis is not as popular as most sports and the Olympics roll around every four years. Scotland have been blessed this year with great athletes. What will you do for the next 3 years?
You arent seeing the big picture. We are all nations of Great Britain.
You dont ever have to have this conversation with an Englishman.

Have to agree with you. Sadly, it looks like the disabled again being treated as second class citizens. :x

It is awful.
They are athletes on top of their game. I would love to know the intricacies of funding between the Olympics and Paralympics.
Just another thought, you dont hear much about the Olympics and Paralympics of 2012.
Anywhom, they are doing Great Britain proud.

How can you say the lack of coverage means that Britain is not PC? We have to be one of the most PC nations in the world surely??

The lack of television coverage stems from the fact that not many people are interested in watching it. I agree it is good viewing but there is no point giving it prime time if people are not interested.

If you are referring to my post, read my post before saying about we are the most PC country.
It isnt prime time necessarily because of the time difference it is finished by 4pm at the latest. I know plenty of people would be willing to watch it but the BBC obviously know best!!

Referring to the many posts really, The bottom line is people are not interested. You find me 1 who wants to watch it, I can find you 10000 that dont. It just the popularity of the event that determines airtime.

Its like women's football (dont all jump on me) they are THE best women at playing the game in the world, but are many interested? Not nearly as many as mens football so it does not get airtime like the mens game.
#29
i think also there isnt quite as near the amount of events or competetors so it might be a struggle to fill the airtime with the constant action we had for the olympics. i have the multiscreen on on bbc 1 but i seem to be watching the same thing over quite often. Am i wrong here?

I see your point but I do think people would watch it. As I have said though, the BBC obviously have the proof to prove I am wrong/

From what I can see the BBC are only showing part events where there are British competitors and even then ones with a good chance of winning or who have already won.
Now whilst some may say that's natural and to a point it is I think there is much more depth that could be had. It just appears to be very edited and shortened especially in the field events.

I also understand what is being said by lack of interest but I honestly believe that is an outdated view. To be honest it's one I would probably have had about10 to 15 years ago. Nowadays the competition is fantastic and these athletes are seemingly well funded , well equipped and well able to put up a terrific performance.
Anyone watching the cycling and the basketball and the swimming can't deny the excitement and passion is at least on a par with the able bodied equivalent. Indeed a lot of these athletes are now training alongside able bodied athletes as it's the only way they can improve.

What I'm trying to write is that unless the public can be shown how good the competition is nowadays things are not going to change and the only way that's going to happen is by good coverage from the media.

A bit chicken and egg I know but one should never underestimate the poser of the media and TV especially.

Sorry I've dragged on but I do feel it's worth a rant ! ;-):)
