"When he was cuffed on Monday, investigators presented Parkin with clear evidence he was not his mother, in the form of a photograph of her grave."

I thought it strange that they decided to present evidence to the man that he wasn't, in fact, his own mother! It's just bizarre!

This guy was a big time fraudster. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2009/06/18/2009-06-18_mother_of_all_scams_just_gets_weirder.html

When investigators showed up to interview Irene Prusik in May, they encountered an elderly "woman" in a red dress and dark sunglasses, sources said.
"She was also wearing an oxygen mask," Hynes said.
Michael Vecchione, who heads the Rackets Bureau, said Prusik-Parkin also "wore a scarf around his neck that would prevent us from seeing his Adam's apple."
But there were other clues.
"He has rather large hands," Vecchione said of Prusik-Parkin.
