Man on the Moon - Andy Kaufman

Watched this film again last night staring Jim Carey playing the legend that is Andy Kaufman. Partner hadn't seen it - she also didn't know anything about Kaufman, but she loved it.
Afterwards, she was asking me what was real and what was not.

Interesting stuff. Even as far as the myth of maybe he is still with us?

Anyone else got any thoughts on Kaufman?

Great movie, great soundtrack too.

Shame Milos Forman never made more films in his time.

Quite agree - I wouldn't have thought many people could have made the film whilst staying true to the 'real' story.

Great bit of work. And how big must Kaufman's balls have been? oO

Classic:

Can't see the link at work but I got right into Kaufman after watching the movie at cinema, read the biography upon which they based it on but can't really remember that much now.

Would be great if he's sunning it up on a beach laughing away to himself at his greatest prank.

yeah he was like the pioneer of the Bo'Selecta'/'Trigger Happy' prank style of comedy, interesting guy was probably pretty good back then, but seeing the film you could see the dated views of the time, ala foreign man etc

Which Biography did you read? Is it the Bob Zmuda one? I've got another one on order through Amazon.

This was before he really took off. The best clip I've seen is of him reading the Great Gatsby to a live studio audience. To have the balls to just read a book is beyond funny. And then there's teh one where he just eats icecream on stage...... way before his time.

Yeah that's the one I ordered:

There is a Bob Zmuda one that I thought would be better but apparently Kaufman's family think it's way off the mark.

Always difficult with bios when you have them written by different people, especially by those who knew him personally. Ones view of someone can be completely different to another.
