If you are suggesting we forget about him and what he did? Knowledge of Hitler and what he 'achieved' gives us one of the greatest modern narratives against extremism and inhumanity... Long may our collective memory of him survive.

I'm not German.. was Hitler an idiot? Probably not........ was he evil / twisted? Most likely.

I don't see the point in destroying a wax figure that took 25 people 4 months to create.

I totally understand why the action was taken.

Remarks like that show exactly why it is important we learn the lessons from that period of history.

EDIT: And I must say, the response below was spot on (and dignified):

im not saying lets not carry on teaching people about hitler, and forget it ever happened. just dont see the need in building a wax figure in his memory. surely books and the internet will give you more than enough info?

Okay lets set bad examples to everyone and let them rip the heads off everything we don't like.

Lessons are taught through a variety of mediums; this is just another. What's important is that people talk about the issues so they stay alive. Using mediums of popular culture like wax figures broadens access - and as long as Hitler isn't being lauded by the wax figure, then it has to be a good thing. e.g. "Mammy, who was that man Hitler?"

So the waxwork museums that have an hall of horror featuring the likes of Jack the Ripper, Doctor Crippen et al should allow anyone who doesnt approve of the mens deeds to just walk in and rip their heads off?

Surely the question should be "why would we want to forget him?"

How can the man in question be done for assault if it's a wax model...

He assaulted the security guards...

Having recently researched the holocaust it's understandable that someone may do something like this, hence having the security guards (who didn't do their job). Just watching footage can fill you with horror and anger - imagine if one of your relatives had been killed during the holocaust or the war in general, it would be a million times worse!

I'm not saying this guy should have done it, but i think we can all see why he did.

hmm i see what your saying but we need to remember people like hitler and how he achieved his power so we can prevent things like Holocausts happening again?
