So, it's less than 24 hours away and I'll probably not be able to sleep tonight (bit like a kid at Christmas eve).

Thought a chat thread for any pre match, during match and post match banter would be fun (yeah right, keep it at least borderline legal guys).

I won't be around much tomorrow daytime; bit of pre match preparation to be carried out and then off to the match - season ticket holder, unlike the Man U fans who think a season ticket is a Sky viewing card; but I always enjoy reading back through City v United threads upon my return.

City will be up for this like no other match so far this season. And when City are ‘up for it’ they quite simply don’t lose. Regarding this (none) crisis at City that the press are inventing, let’s look at a few facts concerning recent form of the top four in The Premier League: At the top we have Chelsea who have collected 10 points from their last six games; in second are The Rags™ with 12 points from the last six, then Arsenal with 9 points from their last six and then City with 12 points from our last 6 games. Seems to me there’s a crisis at Arsenal and Chelsea and not at Eastlands. Yet no mention of this in the press is there? And what of the other team being touted as a top four contender, Tottenham Hotspur? They have only 7 points from their last six Premier League games. So, unless my mathematics is severely lacking that puts City and The Rags™, on current form as the best two at the moment in The Premier League, which brings me nicely on to Wednesday’s clash.

I think with Balotelli, who is clearly madder than a mad thing from Madsville, being suspended; Mancini will go for the 4-5-1 formation with Silva being given the freedom to roam and Yaya being encouraged to get forward with Milner. This again means no place for Adam Johnson, unless Barry is sacrificed in the middle of the park and Yaya taking over the ‘holding’ role along with De Jong in a 4-4-1-1 formation. Either formation will work, but it is essential that our midfield take control of the game, especially NDJ. If he does then the others can feed Tevez, and boy does he like to put one over on his former employees. The Rags™ haven’t played anyone of any real note this season apart from an underperforming Liverpool and Tottenham, so they haven’t really been tested. As per usual with them though they have been lucky, with yet again their fair share of late goals; so City need to be aware of this, and they will after being bitten three times last season.

So, I’m going for a 3-1 victory, and that isn’t my heart ruling my head. It’s my head ruling my heart. My heart actually says 5-0.

Anyway, all I have to say is ‘COME ON CITY’.

Andy are you talking about the same City i've been watching? Utd will miss Rooney big time, as well as a few others out but I just can't see City winning 3-1. I think it'll be tight and Scholesy will maybe pop up in injury time again, remember that?
#4
expect City to explode in a tantrum and united to win.

When city are "up for it" they don't lose? What about at old trafford (twice) and at eastlands where you did a Paul McCartney and forgot the second leg ;) , then Scholes broke your ickle hearts

If city lose, Mancini is in real bother.

Should be a great game though.
#6
1-1, city are struggling but should manage the draw

Btw Andy, I'm a bit confused... Is this an official thread? It doesn't seem to be official enough yet...

Totally talking about the same City and United - we've got (almost) a fully available squad for the first time this season and, well, Man U have been hit with a virus with Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidic, Dimitar Berbatov and Paul Scholes all believed to be among the victims. Ryan Giggs is ruled out with a hamstring injury and Nani doubtful after tweaking a groin, as well as Rooney and Owen not being available.

So a fully fit City and a fully fit United would be a close call; but with their injury/illness problems I reckon it's only gonna be a City win.

Edited to make it official.
RE your earlier post; that was last season, and as sure as eggs is eggs Mancini will not allow for a late Man U goal tomorrow.

Ps. Judging by the team that Ferguson is left to field, this has more and more of a Carling Cup tie feel.

I think it's fair to say city haven't had a better chance of beating us in decades.

Still don't think it'll happen.

oO It's still 2nd v 4th in PL, and both teams in best current form (despite the tripe in the press).

That comment was made with it being a midweek 8pm kick off as opposed to the game receiving a "Super Sunday" build up.

That the Liverpool that both City and United have already beaten this season in the league?

Agree a Weds 8pm is an oddity. Especially after all the trouble last season after the match, on a Weds, with an 8pm KO. But they can't go for Saturday 3pm's anymore. TV and alcohol dictates that. A Saturday 12.30pm KO would have made more sense. But, no matter, it'll still be a ferocious battle.

we're still gonna play both at anfield, Hoping it will be a different result. Liverpool on abit of a run at the moment. but I hope man city beat man u, but a draw would be good too. :)

I am not surprised....

Man City
Suspended: Balotelli (three matches)
Doubtful: Adebayor (calf)
Injured: Nimely (ankle), M Johnson (knee)

Man Utd
Doubtful: Anderson, Berbatov & Gibson (all virus), Giggs (hamstring), Nani (groin)
Injured: Hargreaves & Owen (both hamstring), Rooney & Valencia (both ankle)

9 quality players out.

I do like the atmosphere of a Saturday 12:45pm kick off.

I hope that the game is entertaining and United get the win.

To be fair barely.

3-0 lose to City was very flattering, thanks Masc for screwing us there.

3-2 United, sheer class goal sealed it.

United have been poor so far this season, there bound to go from strength to strength now that there getting there momentum.

Manchini will be gone by Christmas, only reason you fourth atm is due to the rest of the league being so even.

I wonder if rooney can loose the excess wait he's put on in the last week

Compliments from a scouser, fair play, We have been poor but so far unbeaten in all competitions, It's going to be difficult for United to pull off a victory, Especially with the virus, Not good.

I just hope we manage it, I'm not too convinced at the moment and United aren't playing like they did a few season's a go, Were scrapping results, Not beating them 4-0.

Liverpool had two shot's and two goals against us lol, You were very lucky because the result more than flattered Liverpool's performance.

City just don't have the spirt yet andy, you can't buy team spirt. Team of great individuals, as yet haven't formed that bond. Only tevez wears his heart on his sleeve that I can see. Wouldn't you wish that a few of those players had the desire the UNITED players show?

Disagree - ask any City fan if there's team spirit and they'll all say yes. In part it's down to a kind of siege mentality that the press have created at Eastlands, thanks to their constant nonsense they write about City.
#28
ask the fans, yes, ask the players.......I just don't see it Andy. They've bought a lot of honest lads but they've added some mercenaries. What was it i heard, one of them left training early to beat the traffic? Maybe false but there's been a lot of talk about ego's in the dressing room and that talk usually has a basis somewhere. How many of them play for the shirt? Adabayor doesn't thats for sure.

Team spirit is drilled into the players at United, That's why we beat teams after 96 minutes, Most players are loyal and wear the badge with pride, Unlike most city players who are 99.9% there for the money, Including the traitor. The United team is built up, City's is bought, takes time, Not all players gel, On paper City should beat anyone in the world, In reality it just creates problems.

So they didn't actually want to beat Spurs to get 4th then?

Btw whatever happened to that embarrassing fan of yours known as Sleepyhead? Is he still just sulking and only online now to tag abuse?

Anywhoo. ..... 1-1 Draw, which both teams will be happy with. Chelsea will end up run away league winners this year, so even the win will mean very little in the title race.
#32
It will be close but will open up at the end and will end up 3-1... To the reds!

mancini sacked after utd win.

Owen 96'
Rooney 92'
Scholes 93'
I'm going for a 91' min winner - Van der Sar with a goal kick in a 0-1 stonker.
