Have you seen the movie?. If you have then you can make comments like that because you know what it's about, but I disagree with your comment.

If you haven't seen it and maybe only seen the adverts then you haven't seen the actual movie so make your opinion after you've seen it and make your mind up and don't judge a book by its cover, i thought it was a bit of a chick flick but i went to watch it and i thoght it was good.

I cried but only because I was thinking of my working dog I lost a few years ago, I was with him till the very end he had those horrible muscle spasms, taking his collar off after he had passed away never cried so much.

7.2/10 from this public opinion review site, don't trust the individual reviewers you have to be a pet lover to enjoy this movie, else you will just think a movie about a dog! :?

You're taking the **** out of me because I have feelings!

It was soooooooooo sad!

It was very weird, apparently it happened just like my dog who died when I was 4, so my dad was holding back tears.

and my rabbit died of a twisted stomach and they couldn't get the tube down and he died, so its both of our 2 pets deaths put together. HOW WEIRD?

so sad I cried and couldnt stop felt really bad all day after

I actually couldn't watch the end, it was so difficult.

My dog died about 4 years ago in slightly similar circumstances. She used to be a bundle of joy & one day, it was just obvious something was wrong. I'd just moved out of home so probably noticed it more than my folks did. I argued with my dad about taking her to the vets.

Never saw her again. She had problems with her kidneys so we had to put her down there & then.

Other than that, I thought it was ok. Nothing special & didn't really find it as funny as some of the rest of the audience did.

Was worth seeing just for Eric Dane :-D But thanks for the freebie

Just back from watching Marley and Me, been waiting a long time to finally see it after the film was announced as I enjoyed the book. On the whole I thought they did a really good job unusually for a film based on a book, they managed to get the pacing pretty much spot on which is not easy. I was glad to see they went for a proper ending as I was worried when it panned out showing the two of them in the corn field it was going to finish there. Marley himself was pretty much spot on as he seemed just like the troublesome dog in the book particularly his rather skinny build.

On the downside though I didn't like Owen Wilson as John Grogan, he just didn't look the right person nor did I think his acting was that convincing - it just seemed like Owen Wilson being John Grogan. When Sebastian was 'older' it seemed to fir John Grogan better, apparently the author himself is in the film with a cocker spaniel in the training scene but I missed it as I didn't know it was coming. I was also disappointed with the continuity, the film rarely feels like it's actually covering a long period of time - the Tercel and Corolla they had at the start and later on the film both looked up like old bangers when they should have been much newer cars at the time the film is meant to be set. The S80 appears at the new house then is switched back to the Corolla then back to the S80 again...later on at the farmhouse the S80 disappears and reappears between shots. The technology similarly is out of place and gets mixed up as well, this sounds like nitpicking but normally I don't spot continuity errors but these were so obvious and it just made it a lot less convincing.

I don't know how the film stands on its own as I was watching it as an illustration of the book and I think John Grogan is a good writer but I did enjoy it. I don't think I've been to a film when so many people have been crying and I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a few tears, the book was hard going at the end a few years back but now that our own dog is a lot older and been diagnosed with a few nasty conditions it was that bit harder.

Criticising a movie you haven't seen nor read the book when you don't even know what type of film it is certainly comes across as trolling. It's a simple story about a couple and their progression through like which happens to centre quite frequently around a troublesome dog, while there's n othing exceptional about the guy's story the author has a strong writing style which makes for an interesting read hence the popularity of the book which I'd highly recommend. Before posting further in this topic I'd recommend you read it or if you genuinely aren't bothered about any of it then don't continue posting.
