I need to buy new home insurance and quotation from Mastercover/Masterquote was 200 quid less than competition.

I never heard about this company before - what do you think?

Is there policy better?

It might be cheaper but you might be covered for naff all.

Make sure you read all of the things that you're covered for and also the amount it's for. Double check for clauses that cancel their risk to you as well as they are very sly.

Ask everyone to send you a comprehensive breakdown of the quote to you in writing so you can check them all. Especially if buildings insurance is involved.

the policy is pretty much the same as anybody else, so I am confused - how come they are so much cheaper?

Looking on there site : http://www.masterquote.co.uk/

It doesn't look to bad.

Mind you, For something as important as this i'd prefer to go with someone whos more expensive and has a good reputation for paying out if something goes wrong.

Just received quotation from Budget. They are 50 quid more expensive but they include Home Emergency cover. Might go with them.

Used to work for them at H/O. They are good.

Nothing on QuidCo Komm?

I have payment 'received' by QuidCo for £125 with Barclays!

Nope - checked all of them, even with Quidco they are more expensive than Masterquote or Budget.

Avoid Masterquote at all costs as they do not have the technological infrastructure to deliver actual documentation or emails detailing the documentation within a reasonable time frame...

Ask to complain to a manager, not able to do so, as only have team leaders, or if dealing with sales, no one other than a helpdesk agent to speak to... nice way to avoid accountability!

Cherry on top - one has no documentation etc. so ask to cancel policy... charge 40 pounds cancellation, even after asking for email copy... They are unable to provide info as servers\infrastructure have failed!

Very, very unprofessional all round...

Many thanks for joining to bump a thread which is 4 years old..............in the last 4 years the OP has been sectioned due to not receiving a satisfactory response to this thread. I shall inform his family of your reply and with any luck they'll be able to wheel him to a PC where upon reading it he may be allowed to be released into the general population once more. :D
