# Maths - Convert litres/100 miles to mpg

8y, 3m agoPosted 8 years, 3 months ago

Just did a 1000 miles round Devon and Cornwall the last two weeks, and the trip computer says i got 8.9 litres/100 miles. Now, i know 4.55 would be 100mpg, so 9.1 is 50mpg, but i'm stuck on the exact calculations

8.9 litres = 1.9577255 Imperial gallons
100 / 1.9577255 = 51.0796841

8.9 litres = 1.958 Imperial gallons as per http://convert.web-max.ca/index.php?select=80&page=2
so 100 miles per 1.958 gallons = 51.07 miles per gallon (1.959 gallons @ 51.07 mpg = 100 miles travelled).
Not a bad return I guess you're driving a diesel.
Grr beaten to it lol

Your towing a caravan that weighs at least a ton, PLUS the shame of it is creating massive wind resistance.....

by the way, I drive a diesel and it only costs me 20p a litre to run :)

The old car was even cheaper it was only 5p

(filtered chip shop fat)
But the new car wont run on that it has to be proper biodiesel
