i have not got my owners manual yet from mazda and car is out of oil and had burning plastickly smell comming from the engine and the 16v part was to hot to touch, i removed te radiotor cover and green fluid came flying out so i topped it up woth water and then check the oil and it was light brown and water (dihorrea colour if am not being to disgustig). the garage was suppost to have motted it but i had to go back on thurs when i bought it on wed for new tire ws had flat slow punture and brake knckin - got car back yesterday and they said the tire had variou punctures and was replesed and the brake disks where replaced as they where 65% worn and warpped - so how do you know they where worn?

and now the oil problem

so i dont know if this arnolrd clark garage put my car threw its mot properly on

Right...do you know what your doing?

Tyres are worn when the little tread indicators are flush with the tread, get them replaced or its 3points a corner...

Brakes are worn when either the disc is below the minimum thickness (has a groove of probably about 2mm) or when the pads are worn. Normally worn pads are indicated by a metal on metal sound when breaking (this is the brake wear indicator letting u know)

Oil is golden-ish when brand new, after use turns to a golden brown, then black when its a bit older.

Are you certain there is water with the oil? thats a bad thing.

NEVER remove the radiator cap after driving, this has an expansion area for the fluid which will come out when the cap is removed. Let it cool.

DO NOT top up radiator fluid with water, most modern cars use a pre-mixed solution that should be purchased from them direct, do not mix antifreeze compounds.

ALL FLUIDS with the exception of oil are checked on a cold engine. Engine oil is checked with a warm engine, after allowing the oil to settle for 30sec or so.

the '16v' part will always be too hot to touch after running the engine, it is after all, containing lots of explosions from hitting the bonnet yes?

Plasticky smell....could be anything, take a look for anything obvious, and keep an eye on it. If something goes wrong u will know about it.

You said the car is out of oil?? you ran the car with 0 oil in it? i cannot think of a faster way to destroy an engine, i hope you were exagerating.

hope i have cleared some things up, im sure i will be corrected on some things but here is basics for you.

Reading your post comes across as your misunderstanding between an MOT and a Service.

The MOT just makes sure your car is road worthy. e.g. checking the tyres, brakes, etc. ...basically all the things that make the car safe to run on the road.

The Service covers the basic mechanics of the car that makes it run.

Do you know what the garage actually said they would do ?

Is it a new car ? Did you get a warranty with it ?

we bought the second hand car from arnald clark in aberdeen mounthooly garage, they said they will give us

mot 12 months
6 months raod tx
1 service
fully vated
next 3 mot and serviced paid for inthe price
payment protected fianace
and we pay £125 for it a month starting next month.

37000 miles 1 prvious owner,

car looke fine when we got it on wed then thurs we heard kncking frm frontand had a flat tire, so they changed tire and brake disks, they said the car failed service on tired on the tue and that would be replaced for the wed, so we got the car and it still had a flat orslow punture, so on thurs we dropped ot back off at them and they changed tire and brake disks and told ups the disks was 65% worn and was warped and that was why braking was judderin on dual cariage way at 60. and the tire they said was patched over and over and a new tire was added instead.

car was bought on finance pymns start nxt mnth

parts thy said is only covered for 30 days

The vibration at 60mph could also be that the 'Tracking is off' too. If the problem persists thats what it more than likely is...... an easy fix for the garage.

ALSO .......check your MOT Status on the VOSA website as it shows the engineers remarks about the car that you probably won't have seen as the garage don't have to supply that info if the car passes it's MOT.
(Usually this info is recommendations about faults that may need done before it's next service or MOT....e.g. brakes line rusty, wheels bearing worn, etc............ It may not have any comments at all which is good.)

You can also Request History for all the MOT's that your car has had on the same site.

Here's the Link :

http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/html/home.html (menu ..top left)

All you need to put in is your Reg Number, MOT Number OR V5 Doc Number !

sounds like the patch they put on the tyre didnt work which does happen esp if they had patched it before they put it on their pitch to sell but if they have replaced that trye now I personally would be happy with that, and you will find the technician who serviced it would not have found the brake problem because there test drive route would not get to that sort of speed and modern brake materials are much weaker warped discs are very common have they replaced them or are they skimming them? either way both will be fine just try and keep your braking light for about 100 150 mile to ensure the pads and discs bed in together well otherwise they will be warped again (if they have skimmed then I always found people complained a little of 1st brake squeak which again is normal just dust setting skinning overnight) oil and water one a tricky one to coment on with out seeing, as it has been said already you have to check them at set temps really to make sure its the right level etc etc see if the garage will get one of its technicians to run through the checks with you showing you the best way to check etc, I used to do that with my customers and techys I found it really helps drivers hope you find my little bit helpfull

the other thing is do not go looking for problems (tracking causes pulling not vibration on braking, like I said warped discs are now very comom) and dont worry about the finance thing not everyone has surplus cashflow to be able to buy cars outright if only we all did maybe we wouldnt be having a credit crunch and oh yes we wouldnt have forums like this either as we wouldnt really care how much money we where spending - sorry to sound off (afterall I am new hear dont wont to upset anyone)

sorry meant to say it may be a simple prob of the 'wheels need balanced'.....as this causes vibration between 50 - 60mph. :)

Sorry I was sharpe there I worked in the motortrade for 10 yrs although thankfully no longer as now a stay at home mum to my little babies daddy earns the money now, just didnt wont them going in all guns blazing quoting things, the best thing to do is stay calm and speak to the garage, give them a chance to put it right which by the sounds of it they have, I have been on the receiving end of many an unhappy driver and guns blazing does not help the situation

I know you probly already have and trust me I do not mean to insault there isnt anything attached to the exhaust is there?? (sorry had that happen a lot too)
