McDonald’s has hinted it could begin delivering food to homes in the UK and its four other biggest markets around the world.

The fast food giant already runs delivery services in China and Singapore but is now aiming to become the “global leader in delivery”.

Announcing growth plans, the chain hinted that its five biggest markets are next in line to get Big Macs and Happy Meals straight to the doorstep. These are the UK, US, France, Germany and Canada.

McDonald’s added that in those five markets, nearly 75 per cent of the population lives within three miles of a branch.

The statement said: “One of the most significant disruptions in the restaurant business today is the rapid increase in delivery. Through technology, delivery has changed the way customers order, pay, track and receive food and provide feedback."

Not going to find many English deliver buns, they will be busy manufacturing cars and washing machines soon as well as to work in the fields for market gardening.

Some of us are still looking for English in sentences.

Indeed it is. that's the bun warming drawers they now use. Absolutely terrible. Guess it's a blessing really as I don't go because of that.

I defy anyone to be remotely excited by this news. Not sure how many years ago I had one now, but I can only recall cold and tasteless stuff in spongy buns. :(

wonder if they will have a hot Oven in there car to keep the food hot. or cook your chips and burger in there boot outside your house before delivering.

The driver could just sit on them to keep them warm .. Wouldn't affect the normal appearance too much anyhow.

Did you intend to post this in a different thread?

Will the minimum order value be enough to give the average person a heart attack if they ate it all by themselves, like Burger King?

They could dry freeze everything, Then you just add water and stick in the microwave for x amount of minutes.

As long as you pace yourself properly it will not matter; "Fast food" refers to the expectation of time this rubbish stays in your body without being jettisoned as waste.

Powdered salad or ice cream would be interesting.

I suppose if it's already congealed, it won't matter how long I leave it! Plus I would have to listen to Justine Bieber or whatever while eating it. That usually speeds things up.

Is there anything to stop them cooking fresh burgers in the Macca's van?

What about frying chips?, I'm not sure having hot oil splashing about would be very good and I doubt it'd be worth them pulling up, making the burger on the spot etc..

If Selena Gomez can do it, perhaps Bieber could deliver your order & a vocal performance at the same time.

Stuff 'em. The chips are always awful anyway.

Just order an item that has to be altered

Chips with no salt

Burger with no pickles

They have to cook it fresh ;)

Considering its the most popular fast food chain in the world, how can you defy anyone to be?

It's really cool and edgy to say McDondalds is terrible.

All the cool kids do it.

Whilst obviously there are more refined restaurants and eateries there is nothing wrong with a McDonalds now and then.

Their food is well researched and made to be tasty. If it wasn't people wouldn't go back. Competition in the cheap fast food market has meant that all of them have up their game, tasty, better sourced, cheap chow.... not sure why so many act like it's rubbish. It is what it is....

Nando's on the other hand... why are people falling for their act??

Clearly isn't good for you if you live on it.... but who does that??

Our area has a team of mobile chip shops that drive around the area on several days of the week. They make a killing.

When I was at College I went for a job interview at McDonald's for some extra cash. At the end of the interview the manager said if you could ask one question what would it be. So I said why don't McDonald's do delivery they would make a killing. The manager looked at me and said but how would we keep the food warm. Simple I said first wrap the burger in foil or paper like Burger King do second use those food bags like dominoes do. He looked at me like I was the thick one and said ok thanks for coming in for the interview. I never got that job and I'm convinced to this day it was because I was more intelligent than he was and I was only 16.

Larry, I'm not going to judge you - honest, you just have me intrigued. What did you go on to do?

I'll admit to leaving the house and getting a McDonalds. I can't imagine it's something I would use frequently as opposed to going and getting one, but I'd try it.

"you should do things like your competitor, they do it better"

Not the best approach for an interview :p

Then again, it's better than 'I've always enjoyed what you have done, it's admirable'. You know the usual tripe.
