since our official activation date, we haven't had a single problem. We pay £5 for the mid package, and it has been a lot more reliable than the £27.99 BT Yahoo 2Mb broadband package we had before.

edit: Since June 2007

Since changing over a year ago i have had to recycle the router a few times.

My previous ISP was really bad and sky is a big improvemnt, could not play games and use TS/vent at sametime before switch, but now can.

All in all it is very good package and even better for £5

come from bulldog and sky is better, pay £10 and download 1.2MB a sec.

Installation was a nightmare. The engineer did not have a clue what he was doing. In fact he returned several weeks later to ask if I was happy with his work because many customers had reported him and he was not getting paid by Sky.

For many weeks we could not match the PC/laptop to the router, even today we haven't got a secure connection.

Please do not expect anybody at Sky to be able to assist you with setup, they just don't get it.

I signed up for sky broadband when it was first advertised, and I had never had so much trouble as I did with them!!

My connection continually dropped, anything from 5 times a day up to 5 times an hour. It took about 6 months to get a reasonable connection, with me contacting their support at least once a week, every week. Then I lost connection completely for 2 weeks. This was the last straw so I cancelled the contract.

This may be an isolated case, but check out skyuser for other peoples experiences.

Ive got the max package and its not too bad but not great. Goes really slow every now and then which isnt good for xbox live. I have to restart the router at least once every couple days. I get decent speed, can download 6-7mb sometimes

what do you mean restart the router? is that just unplugging it and plugging it back in again?

I changed from BT to Sky Broadband about 12 months ago.

The initial setup had its problems, more down to an ip address issue than a fault as such, but when i needed the help of the sky broadband team, they were pretty much useless and found myself getting more and more frustrated every time i had to speak to them.
Apart from that, in the past 12 months i have had approx 8 hours downtime on 1 particular day which isn't too bad.

So all in all i would recommend Sky Broadband itself, just not the customer service side of it.

thanks for the help - i mite just extend my account with aol as their connection is pretty much stable...only downside is that their new contracts are 18 months long!!
