Hmmm on my memory card there is a little up and down bit where I can move it to lock or open, remember like the way old videos used to be so you couldnt record over them.

Does your memory card have a little notch on the side that you can push either way? That write protects the card.

push the side llittle swith to the other side now unlock
#4
Are you sure that you have slid the little locking "thingy" on the side?

I've got one that is in the unlock position, it formats fine on my pc and camera, but when put in the camera all the pictures are still on it, and if I take a photo it says memory card error.

If I was in possession of the card I'd completely erase it from start to finish but you need semi-special software to do that.

You could always just format the card then fill it with large files which kind of has the same effect.

Try to fill the card with files anyway and if no obvious error appears have a look in the Event Logs, any write errors will be recorded there.

If it's definitely defective give the manufacturer a shout - most of them have long warranties.

I don't think I can write to it. The camera can't at least.

Maybe the memory card is too big for the camera to take?

I think I read that certain ones could only take SD cards of a certain GB size?

IT's not, my 256, 1gb, 2gb, and both 4GB SDHC cards all work, just not this damn 2GB. ONly one I had with me at the weekend aswell, so couldn't get any pics.

Well if all them work then its the 2gb card?

Thanks i will give the thingy a click down and see what happens :)

Not Sure if you have same problem as me but one of my cards locked up because it was used in camera, then connected to a laptop running Windows Vista, then used again in camera and then put in PC running Windows XP, the problem being once vista formats pictures for viewing, Windows XP cant turn em back into viewable pictures and locks up the card, hope this helps,
all the best

Ahh it was everytime i put the lock off- then put it into my camera the lock wud go on when pushing the card into camera ( if that made any sense) the lock bit that you move, moved very easily i just swapped case and the new one i havent used b4 has a stiffer lock so all sorted.

Thanks everyone for taking time to post
