It seems everybody wants a laptop at the moment.
There seems to be loads of deals with vista with integrated graphics (thus using system memory) then they have 2 memory slots with 2x512mb in.
So as soon as you get the laptop with vista eating up half of it and the graphics card eating another 128mb it runs slow.
So you have to buy 2gb of ram this leaving you with 2 all but worthless 512mb of ram!
Is this a ploy between the manufactures and the ram makers to boost there sales? Because at retail 1gb ram sticks cost no more than 2x512mb? So why?
Even if you can manage to sell them on for a few pounds the people who buy them dont get full use as their lappys are older and don't get the full speed usage out of them.
There must be thousands and thousands of these chips just floating about. I have 3 worth a £10 at best! Probably will never get round to selling them.
One day in many year to come I will find them in the back of the draw and look at them and laugh at the size and capacity compared to what we are using. It wasn't that long ago that I found an old 64mb sdram from a desktop I had years ago and its massive. Just shows how thing have moved on......
Anyway back to the point why do they do this it is anoying and wasteful and from the current point of view pointless.
