Did you not realise you were getting extra in your wages?

Dunno what you'd expect them to do really, errors get made, you reckon they should just forget about it?

Like I said, mistakes happen - the same thing even happens in the game Monopoly, and you still have to pay the money back, don't you?

Why should the employer have to burden the financial loss, when the onus is upon both in terms of honesty and contractually speaking, to ensure the correct amount is payable?
#11
Pay it back to me seen as though the Council owe me £900 because I am a hero who refused to claim any kind of benefit in the three months I was awaiting my Police start date back in 2005!

All hail the hero.....

Why would the council owe you money cause you didn't claim benefits?

No need to get personal there.

Surely you look at your wage slip and would notice a difference between what you were paid previously - or did you think it was a bonus?:whistling:

She's not being penalised, she's being asked to pay back money that was never hers in the first place.

Fair enough, I'm not asking you to.

All I'm pointing out is that regardless of the number of jobs you have and how the wage slip is presented, surely you must have noticed a difference from previous months.

Do you really think it's unfair that they should ask you for the money back?

Try and answer without getting personal again.

Bitsey its their fault pay back a tenner a month, if they moan say are you gonna get the millions Iceland had of them when their banking systems callapsed.

I never said it was unfair.nor did I say I wasnt going to pay it back, I merely stated the bad timing and the incompetency of the payroll dept. No I did not notice a difference as each month I get paid a different amount as each job is on a supply basis, my hours vary each week and very often the department I work for have different cut off dates as and when the time sheets go in.

all i have done is made a thread to have a bit of a moan.......my apologies

No worries, apology accepted.

I was just concerned, as I looked at your profile and noticed that it was out of character for you to start a thread moaning about something.

lol - personally i think you knew and hoped to get away with it - dont we all
you must have had some idea how much you should be getting after all i am sure you would notice if you hadnt been paid enough
offer them £ 10 per month until it is paid back - the bottom line is - its their fault
#26
Just one thing to note, make sure you agree on a fee to pay back that accounts for extra tax you'll have paid on the money. Otherwise, if they've paid you £1000 too much and they want that £1000 back, you could end up some £300 or so down because of their mistake.
#27
dxx- right on the nail.

tbh, i'd tell them to fcuk off. I owed NCC £103.92 in extra wages when I was temping and told them they can write the money off in accounts as it is an error in their company and they can claim the VAT off the gov. So I was never asked to pay the money back.
#28
was it £200 gross or net? If it's gross you'll only lose about £140
