Microsoft Word help

What I want to do is completely remove the text and replace it with a sort of black area as if I have put shading over the word without the words being there. the space that the actual words take up needs to stay the same so that the document doesnt move around!

does anyone know how this is done if that makes sense?

Thanks

You can use the highlighter function (black obviously) but the words will still be there underneath
#2
so the text has to be there (but hidden) with a shading covering the hidden text?

can you explain a little more what the document is for?
#3
You mean just drawing a rectangle over the words? (insert >> shapes for Word 2007)
#4
well apparently once the word document has been PDF'd and then printed the text is still visible, I would have thought that with black shading and black text that it wouldnt be visible but ideally what I could do with is the shading but without the writing underneath.

ok, so draw the rectangle as #4, then delete the writing that is hiding undernearth, and then press the space bar to correspond to the number of letters that you just deleted so that the document stays in the same layout.

I have just tried the black text with black highlighter, PDF'd the document and printed it out and I cannot see the text through the highlighter.

apparently there is a problem when using a dot matrix printer its a pain in the back side to be honest as it is not the whole document that needs doing just large sections of it. i have no resorted to using the overtype function and just replacing letters with an X. which is very time consuming.
