not even a year old, i no longer have a box/warranty any ideas where i would stand

i put in in mircowave meal (its a double shelf microwave) so it has a metal shelf rack as well

anyways to cut a long story short i could smell burning and i wnt in the kitchen and there was smoke coming from the mircowave thanks to fireman sam and london's burning i new exactly what to do lol

but seriously is 15 minutes to long for a microwave to run (i didnt think so)

once i let it cool down i looked inside and the top left hand corner was black and the metal shelf and plastic bracket holding it was melted

You don't need a box/warranty.

I would advise everyone to read up on the sale of goods act.

Just contact the store you purchased it from..I am sure they will have a record of when you purchased it.

Shouldn't you put metal in the microwave?? :?

Is it a combi microwave, and the metal shelf is for use when it's a grill/combi as opposed to microwave use? I have a shelf, more of a circular trident stand but would never use it in there cept for none microwave use, only grill/combi.
I'd have a good read of the manual (again) before i rang anywhere

if u pay by card you should be able to show statement proof of purchase so they can track it.
contact the manufacturer see what they gonnna do about that coz they r liable.

It depends, you can in mine. I don't, but you can, as it came supplied with a metal shelf.

Apologies, the clue is on the sticker - "twin shelf system", must be ok to use it in there :)
Mine is not fixed in you see like your's is, more free-standing.
Perhaps 15 mins was too long?

Clue is more likely in brand name "Hinari". They have something of a "reputation".

Aren't they Argos' own brand. If so, you should have no trouble getting it exchanged without a receipt. I think Argos are well aware of the build quality of Hinari products. :whistling:

You should be able to get the manual online - then you could check whether the shelf should have been in or not. 15 minutes shouldn't have been too long. If you can find any proof of when you purchased it, I would take it back, and even if you can't, you might as well give it a try!. Good luck
