Missed recorded delivery

On Friday I missed a parcel that was sent by recorded delivery, then left a note telling me it was recorded and that a signature is required but left no other info, I was just about to go to the sorting office but now I'm doubting wether it will be there or wether they will try and deliver it today? What usually happens?

Tried ringing our sorting office but it always rings out, they hardly ever answer.

You will need to go collect from your sorting office

It will be in your sorting office - just go collect but usually they close around lunchtime

If collecting take some proof of who you are with you, drivers license etc.

When this has happened to me, the card usually says allow 4 hrs before going to sorting office so that it gets back there from the Postman.

may be at your local post office as others say should be on your card

No it didn't, they usually tick one of the options on the back but they never this time. Just collected it from the sorting office anyway, thanks everyone.

Our postie always puts wait 24 hours but when you go its never there until at least 48 hours (often longer) so I have given up collecting from sorting office, I just go online and arrange for it to be sent to my local post office, IIRC its 50p for a standard item & £1 for recorded/signed for, its so much easier and helps support the local branch. Its cheaper too, rather than a 8 mile round trip I can see our post office from our living room window.

Why don't you just have it re-delivered?

Because sods law says it will come whilst on a school run, or something will crop up meaning I have to go out.

Our post times varies too from 10am to 4pm so cant say I will be in or arrange someone to wait.
