Missing memory on my dell

I bought one of the inspiron 6400's, with 120Gb HD. Now, it has 10GB set aside for recovery and it shows 99.7GB as my C:, but i only have 67GB free. my files (pics and music) use about 8Gb, where the hell is the rest? out of a 120Gb hard drive i get 75Gb to use? that surely cant be right can it?
Any ideas please? its really really annoying me!

The recovery partition on the XPS I've just bought from Dell seems to take a heck of a lot of space, I don't have much usable from the 160GB.

Try a tool called Spacemonger - the newer one is not free but have a search for the older version which is free and does a superb job of mapping out your drive space.

I'm planning on wiping the entire hard drive and building it from scratch as I always seem to end up doing with my Dells, I don't care much for the recovery partition as the time it takes to clean it up I may as well build it myself.
