Had it for about six months and its played everything I've thrown at it so far including all of the above and more (avi's vobs wmv). Just make sure you update to the latest firmware. PM me if you'd like to know more.

as thats a secure web link i gather its not a freebie, and am very sceptical bout the claims made by a guy who joined to post in support of the software.
mkv playback is achievable without buying anything, there are plenty of free players about

Its not software its hardware so you can watch HD content upto 1080p on your HD TV. Ofcourse its not going to be free.

I use VLC for PC playback and convertxtodvd to convert matroska videos to dvd format.

MKV files play fine on Windows Media Player for me. I use GotSent to convert them to MP4, which enables me to burn them onto a DVD and play them via my PS3. It's a pretty basic piece of software, it does what I need, but it depends how much you want to play around with settings etc. I use it for converting 720p HD-TV rips like Lost etc, but it has also worked on some 720p Blu-ray rips too. It also has the ability to split a large file once it reaches 4GB, so you could convert a 1080p Blu-ray rip if you didn't mind having it spread over 2 discs. :)

the problem is that i am fed up of buying disks using them 1 time and bining them if i get this thing i would save a arm and a leg over the year or so and i won't have to convert them just copy to the harddrive and play em

Well that's more to do with your burner, the discs you're buying or the software you're using to burn! I swear I'm the only person who never seems to have issues with "coasters". It doesn't matter what brand of discs I have, they always work! I only ever use RW for this stuff though.

That makes no sense at all, surely making an mkv is converting them? there is no discs available for sale that come in mkv format (not legally anyway), so most will come down the isp line straight on to your harddisk anyway how the hell do you waste disks
imho this guy is an affiliate or such trying to make cash on here via stealth, if this product was any good he wouldn't have to do this so in no uncertain terms, DO NOT visit that link

hell maddogb are you on drugs or something i was asking advice on a product

don't open the link what?? what you think is going to happen it's a website of a product thats all

so just to ask you if you have a product that could play mkv + loads of other file formats on a hardrive that plugs into your computer as well as you hd t.v via hdmi and does upscaling to 1080 i think that buying dvd's will be a thing of the past and converting them as well hours of time saved

man maddogb i have no idea what you are on
