dont think its actually been proven

#3
my 3 yr old had it, and my baby who is 1 today is due to have it next week, i worried to at first, but like others have said, it has never been proven that they r linked
#4
Not only has it never been proven but the original study which started it all has been completely discredited.
#5
i am real scared after reading about poor parents who have autism kids insist that they 'catch' it from having MMR
#6

Nor that there is definitely no link. Nor why Autism instances have increased....... move along. Nothing here to see.

Got no quarrel with that.... its what my view on MMR is. For that reason, kid 2 was never going to have MMR and I doubt there would be too many on the planet who saw the transfornation I did, to make that gamble.

Ok my son is autistic,he started showing signs around the time just after he had the MMR,however for those who not had MMR around the 16mth mark is when they show signs of autism anyway, that could vary in all cases though.
I did vaccinate my daughter with MMR and she has not got autism.
Like anything, some websites for example will say it's linked due to some reports made, and some will say no connection, just like a lot of other things that exist medically wise and generally in life.

It does seem more so that more boys have autism than girls, thats just 1 thing I do clearly understand about it.

any parents here who have bad experiences with MMR? my bubba has fever after his whooping cough injection

i did a thread about this some time ago, will see if i can find it if you wish to read it
#19
All mine had it, but then im not a good candidate cos 2 of mine have problems and are currently being assessed.

I am convinced it was the cause. Yes it is possible to have the jabs separately. My youngest did. Obviously at my expense (Just like Leo - the PM's son!)

yes it is privately, you can get anything you like if you pay for it, but remember jabs given in single jabs are leaving your child open for a longer period of time, well thats why they reckon everyone wasnt offered it

Autism is least of my problems at moment,he settling into his new school ok so far too.

The thing is with autism isn't how we handle it,the problem lies with others in society.

how much did it cost to have the jabs seperate?
i thought the PM didnt want to say either way about his sons mmr?

+1:thumbsup:
same with any disability really, but then if people are not used to something/someone different they dont know how to deal with the situation this does not apply to people who are deliberatly ignorant or rude

prime example

lady on a till in wilkinson asked my OH "Good god what wrong with your eye?"

he was wearing a blackout contact lens as it was sunny out, as he has a split retina sunlight is painful and causes headaches
makes his eye all black, he dont like wearing it anyhoo now he doesnt wear it at all wears sunglasses instead

Mine was ill within an hour and continued not to be well for approx a month afterwards. He was talking before the jab...... then he stopped. I'm convinced the government is right and its all merely a coincidence and I'm completely mistaken!:whistling::whistling:

your welcome, i though a very interesting debate by most

I think maybe a lot of parents weigh up the risk against what illnesses their child could catch and what the effects are if they catch such a illness so for some that will help make a decision.

Think it was about £200 - though it was a while back now. Yes, the PM said it was a private matter. How strange that an MP wouldnt use his kids to gain advantage. Must be a first!

Absolutely. Mine has just started secondary last week. I doubt it will be too long before there is an incident in the school. Kids can be pretty cruel

Angelstar

Most definitely. Anyone who thinks they had seen what I have and think any different must be pretty trusting and a bit heartless to be taking what amounts to a gamble (thats already been lost once already.)
#35
It's hard to know what to do for the best with things like this..........until it's proven I will carry on with them.........all I know is If something went wrong in the future, I would be more able to forgive myself knowing that I tried to do 'something' rather than if I'd chosen to do 'nothing' and the worse happened due to that!!
Does that makes sense??

I dont think pity is what was meant. More a case of descrimination and avoidance like parents thought their kids might catch something! There were a couple of parents at his jnr school who were particularly controlling and nasty. Its no surprise their kids were the ones always in trouble and always looking for someone else to blame.
#37
there should be a special school for kids with autism no?

the autism spectrum varies, special schools are about and are not needed by all children with autism

it is not wise to be leaving your child unprotected whilst you save you up
