Moaning about Supermarket Deals

Is anyone else noticing that more and more people are moaning about the number of supermarket deals appearing in the deals forum? I would just like to point out to these moany people that no-one is forcing them to read these deals. All they have to do is keep turning wheel on the mouse and scroll right past them! But no, what they prefer to do instead, is go into it, read it, then write a reply saying why did you post this deal, it's of no use to me. If you don't like it, just ignore it, someone else will love it.

Lol funny.

Maybe they think that the title "Ambrosia Custard 19p @ ASDA" is secret HUKD code for "Misprice 1080p Samsung LCD TV 99p @ Currys!"

Then decide to post their displeasure at the original poster.

A moan about a moan lol :giggle:

Never thought about it like that! Don't let hubby see this thread - will just prove his point that I always need something to moan about!!

What I really want is for people to come and have a moan about me having a moan at the moaners.
(The word "moan" is beginning to sound really strange).

lolz yep strange indeed

It's kind of like walking down a high street. You see an Italian restaurant, then proceed to go in and tell them how much you don't like Italian food.

Of course this is a completely stupid example. I mean, who doesn't like Italian food?!

Yep, I agree!

The moaners could use the filter on HUKD to aviod these particular deals if they wanted to.

Exactly !!!!!

And for once it wasn't me who moaned about it!

But I have in the past...

I've actually suggested having an online deals and offline deals forum to cope with the supermarket deals in future, but I doubt it'll happen.

Personally, I think this site should be for online deals only anyway. Plus supermarkets are ALWAYS having deals, BOGOFs etc, it's what they do. We really don't need to be told about them all on here.
#11
These people would like the site to be called 'HotUKDealsbutnotincludingsupermarketsunlessitsgotatellyorxboxinvolved.com'

But if a sub-forum could be opened then we could have the best of both worlds.
#12
Well, in the past, HUKD has traditionally been online deals mainly, and you are simply able to impulse buy the item there and then. Lately, we have attracted a lot more members from other sites, and these supermarket deals are the norm.

Personally, I ignore them.

Admin has measures in place for the site update, which will be in place for things like this.
#13
I just think that as a website, it should be a site dealing with other websites!

Plus not everyone has branches of every supermarket near them, and at least with online deals people have roughly the same chance of getting the deal offered.

You shouldn't have to move off your backside to get a Hot Deal. :giggle:

Yep because that'd mean going outside :? And some people on here haven't been outside since 1998. :giggle:

Ha-Ha. That made me laugh. Has anyone else noticed that since joining HUKD you haven't really been saving money? Quite the opposite in my case, I've been spending a lot more and all without having to leave the house or even get off my large backside!!! :giggle:

Yes they have - when the postman comes to deliver a package, and they put half of their foot over the doorstep. :-D

supermarkets are ALWAYS having deals, BOGOFs etc, it's what they do. We really don't need to be told about them all on here.

But some people prefer to be told about them.To visit all the stores in any one area could be a massive undertaking for some and to have all the deals to hand in one place is a boon.
You say that supermarkets are always having deals, its what they do,then,so do the likes of HMV,CD Wow,Dell etc.
The name of the site is Hot UK Deals, not Hot UK Deals Online,so these types of deal should be allowed. There are quite often deals that appear that are not online only,i.e. High street fashion shops offer both types of deal. There are plenty of other deals that will say instore only,so it is not just supermarkets that fall into the offline category.
I personally, when scrolling through the deals, automatically skip past anything referring to pc's or computer games etc and it is no hardship,so i would suggest that anybody who doesn't like any particular type of deal does likewise.

The problem is that the supermarket deals have increased markedly in the last few weeks and are threatening to deluge the forum. Do people really want to know that you can get mint sauce for 3p in ASDA in Cheshire?

The other day, 70-80% of the deals on page 1 of the forum were all supermarket food related. There are tons of websites already showing all the supermarket good deals and this is what made HDUK stand out for me as it really was all about real HOT deals!

Not overly fond of the vast number of supermarket deals taking over the forum. There's only so many times that you can laugh at cheap/stupid posts like mint sauce.

Perhaps they should be allowed if you also post a picture of yourself in an amusing pose at the supermarket :whistling:

Very well said Bazr!

It's also absurd to discriminate against supermarket deals. One of the hottest were the pre-xmas quality street tins at an amazing price from ASDA. No one moaned about that.

I know all supermarket deals are not nationwide but the majority are and online. I've saved a lot of dosh by waiting for the best wine deals from Tesco.

If one of my favourite supermarket products are half price I'd like to know about it.
#23
I totally agree that supermarket deals should be allowed, like any other deal. If some supermarket deals wasnt listed on this site I wouldnt look for them in the store, so they are making people aware of the good deals. I dont like the idea of a 'subforum' for supermarket deals like they have made. For example, Dell deals are becoming more common lately, with many other people other than mikeT posting dell deals, but no one is moaning about them saying dell deals should be put into a subforum, so I dont think its fair that supermarket deals should.
#24
Dell deals should be put into a subforum, it's like they have their own shop here or something.

Agreed.

Don't tell MikeT that though he wasn't happy with my suggestion for Dell to only have 1 merged thread :? wonder why when its fine for supermarket retailers

Maybe if asda/tesco set up a quidco till things would be different who knows

If you read the thread more closely, we're actually talking about food and drink deals.
