500 mb is loads in terms of normal web-browsing for a phone. As long as you are not downloading lots of music then it should be more than enough.

I'm always using facebook and checking e-mails etc on the phone and have never ever come anywhere close to using my 500mb allowance.

I use a mobile broadband modem on my PC every weekday for a couple of hours. There's an app that monitors useage. Even though I have a 3GB allowance, I've never gone above 500MB in a month. Obviously though if you are downloading videos and mp3s etc, it will eat away your allowance. From what you say on your phone, providing the emails dont have huge attachments, you should have no problems.

E-mail and web browsing doesn't use much data so 500MB should be fine, obviously downloading and watching videos will eat into your allowance a lot quicker.

All of the above...

and downloading 'Debbie does Dallas' racks up the data packets as well as leaving you with a twitch in one eye....not good...

I'm looking at similar plans with a 500MB allowance. So how many youtube videos could you get out of 500MB?

THANKYOU!

500Mb would approximately be 2-3hrs a day on an instant messaging service e.g MSN per month. I would'nt recomend downloading music as it eats up the 500Mb almost instantly, the same with youtube, i find youtube is the worst culprit for eating up the allowance. I usually check e-mails, go on facebook for a while and google a few questions and the most i get up too in a month is around 200Mb (Y)
Hope this helped x

Is 500MB a month enough for checking facebook/emails and using blackberry messenger?
#23
To be fair im unsure if 500 is enough.. well for me anyway, unless tesco have a problem with their reader.

I've used 150MB in 10 days on my orange san francisco - according to them.

Most apps downloaded on wifi no skype used or youtube or anything. hmm.

hi could some one help me please im looking at getting a blackberry of 500mb a month on pay as you go, how much would i get out of this i would only really use it for facebook and maybe google a few things?
#25
Would skype use a lot (I know it depends how much you use it) but just to get an idea?

Can you not check your usage online and keep an eye on it if reaching limit?
#26
so with my 500 mb on ma phone i can check Facebook everyday of the month and not go over my limit ??
#27
to give u a clue
i am a heavy user in terms of email and web browsing and app downloads on my iphone.
i dont tend to stream much. i use the phone all day everyday.
when upgrading from my 3gs to 4 i was worried as o2 changed the usage policy for data a little but when i looked on my totals i had only downloaded around 3.5GB for the year.
#28
I am already on a contract mobile phone, i wanted to know if i could add mobile internet to my plan and roughly how much it would cost, doesn't matter about the allowance just a rough price of how much it would cost for the set allowance, i would be greatful, and on the vodafone network i would appreciate the help alot, thanks :) & if possible about 3/4 hours of facebook aday for my allowance! :D

Its usually £5 extra a month. 45 minutes of facebook will be fine.

So. My current plan with Optus is ''Turbo Cap'' an I want to change to the ''Turbo Cap Plus'' and it givesme 500MB worth of data. I use the internet a lot.Like a lot each day but only for Facebook. I don't downlod music, play on Youtube, use any other internet sights or anything like that just browsing and messaging on Facebook. Will messaging on Facebook (not chat, inbox) eat the data and will 500MB a month beenough? O.o
#36
Does using BBM eat the 500mb??? 8)

I've read recently the average user uses somewhere between 200-300mb a month, so unless you are downloading much or watching a lot of videos you are unlikely to go over 500mb. Save all you downloading for your home router and you'll be fine.
my only worry is with say a two year contract what changes there will be and whether 500mb will be enough then.
#39
Would 500MB be enough to use PING application? As it requires to be connected to the internet

Thanks for your help
