Wicked! I've checked a few, some current and some previous and they were all spot on. some might be different due to being sold via different routes, e.g Virgin SIMs may show as T-Mobile (as one of mines did).

Quite a handy little site tho...

Mine showed up as being T-mobile from 2002 when in fact I have been with o2 for about a year now. I guess it maybe only shows the original network and not any subsequent changes.

Without sounding obvious......

It will only be able to give you the original network the number was allocated too.....

What the owner then does with that number in the next years, it wont track.......

For example

07967 was originally Orange...... And so on.. So don't be too hard on it.....

I didn't know that. How do you know?
Quite a cool little tool though.

Originally - many moons ago - when we were all gullible or needy enuff to NEED a mobile fone, and we took out our very first contract.........

Back in the old days of Orange, Vodafone, )2 and err T-Mobile probably, the Govt assigned certain numbers to certain networks.....

For example 07967 was everybody on the Orange network (although in those days it was just 0967, the figure 7 only came into play relatively recently....)

Then those who had a vodafone network were assigned another number by HM Gvt, and those on T-Mobile and so on.....

Following on from that as the mobile networks got more and more competitive, and people started to shop around for 'deals' they didn't necessarily want to have to change their loved and cherished number every time they changed network - so the networks allowed them to 'port' their number over....

That is why, whilst it can correctly distinguish the up-to-date networks, their is a possibility that those who have migrated to another network, it will only be able to show who that number was (or what network the number was) originally assigned to.

In one of the comments above somebody pointed out that theirs is not stricyly correct - that is the reason. Whereas it got the newer ones no problem.

As I am on an old original number it will only be able to tell you that ortiginally this number was assigened to the XYZ network....

Now whether or not the customer has since changed networks is a different story - but for the newer ones it shouldn't be a problem....

Incidentally - does anybody know if the OP has even seen her replies!!

PMSL!!!
