Mobile phone contract advice please

Two issues that I would like some advice from expert mobile addicts about, regarding phone contracts...

I have been with O2 for about 6 years but 13 months ago when my 18 month contract continued (phone handset upgrade only) they managed to put me on an incorrect tarrif (I lost my 50% extra per month and my 3 months rollover etc). I battled for about 6 months to get this sorted but got nowhere (they did give me some extra minutes but no rollover etc).

I want to leave O2 before my 18 months are up as I feel it is breach of contract and have no reason to stay with the provider. I have in writing that I should be getting the original deal that I am currently still not getting so would presume that in itself is enough proof?

Anyone had similar problems, any advice about how to get the PAC code so I can go elsewhere and transfer my existing number?

Next bit of advice....

When I do get this all sorted out I need to move to a network offering the following at the best price (either consumer or business tariff):

At least 700 cross network minutes
Unlimited landline calls
Unlimited internet/email

Vodafone and Orange seem to have fair prices but i'm not sure if there is any difference between the two providers regarding email/internet speed on mobile phones?

I also need a handset that features 'push email' with a decent size screen and fast internet access. I am a Nokia fan but also like the look of the Vodafone V1615. I need the features but it's still got to be simple to use.

I want to deal direct with the provide if possible and not a 3rd party like Phones4You etc.

Any advice much appreciated,

Steve

Hi, Steve, its hard to get out of a contract mis-sold early and if you need your number it wil be harder! cant you change tariff to the lowest possible if you cant get out of it? anyway if its in writing who did that for you and why didnt they release you at the same time?

I was also with 02 and had the 50% extra and rollover minutes.

As far as i am aware though, they stopped that promotion and regardless if you were a new customer or if you were upgrading you lost that offer.:|

Nothing should have been lost if the contract was to stay the same. I also upgraded my partner Katie's phone (same day, same tariff etc) and her tariff stayed the same no problem, just mine was ruined.

I think I will just write to O2 and send a copy of the letter that states I should be on the original tariff plan and moan at them.

I could lower the tariff and then take out another deal elsewhere, but I really need to keep my number and transfer it to whatever deal I go to as I use it for business and don't really want to end up using 2 phones. Plus, as O2 incorrectly changed my contract I really don't want to have to pay a penny more to move to another network as I shouldn't have to suffer.

i agree with you but i think you will have a fight on your hands after so long...where did you upgrade in store or online?

I upgraded over the phone direct with O2. They have got complaints reported by me until November last year (when I gave up), and again last week when the guy I spoke to could not understand why they never sorted it for me. Anyway, i'll fax a polite factual letter to them in the week with a copy of their letter from when I upgraded and will see how it goes.
