Im trying to get a contract phone out for someone but it always fails due to bad credit. Done a credit check and it came back OK. Theres no reason for it to fail, lived at same address for 10 years, no loans out, no credit cards or bad credit at all..ect.

Anyway my question is...

Im thinking to get a contract out in MY NAME and then TRANSFERING it to my friends name 3 months or a year down the line whichever.

I didnt think you can do this BUT i have another friend who INSISTS its possible as his dad had to him a contract out and transfered it into his name months down the line.

How is this possible?

expert phone contract geeks please let me know

this is impossible, i tried it, my mum took a contract out for me when i was 17, during the contract i turned 18 and i asked to change the payment details and name into my name and not my mums, they said instore and on the customer services line that they can't do this as it is a signed contract in that persons name. Some networks will do an 'customer account transfer' (Orange will I know), BUT the person the acc is being transferred to still has to pass a credit check. It not a method of by passing the credit check process...

Did this with Orange about 4 years ago, but obviously you still have to go through a credit check when passed on.

You can - but the whole the it's in your name, you are responsible for the payments.

ALLOWED.

We pay our son's phone bill whilst he is at University. The contract is in my name and I am the bill payer but he is registered as the user.
