Just sorted a new contract today for the missus (I pay all bills) at a rather bargain price today and it dawned on me there's a fair monthly bill despite several absolutely outstanding deals negotiated.

(Mine are shown below!)

Whats your deal / phone and spend

Only complaint is the 3G internet is slow and unreliable. Would switch if another network could match this. Giffgaff doesn't cut it for me as I don't want to mess about buying credit every month - they need a direct debit option

Yeah at times it can b unreliable, and slow, but for the price I can't really complain.

We're not tied in.

10 and 13. Both have Samsung Portals (Android). They dont make many calls, so just for calling us or being contactable. The rest is for fun. (My youngest is playing Angry Birds Rio on his ATM - which is fine as he took his maths SATs today.) The youngest does also get lots of texts from three of the girls in his class.

If I send 20 texts per month, I've gone OTT. Its just included in the deals. If they had no texts included, it wouldnt bother me. The number of minutes and internet is the only thing I'm interested in.

Im with Orange. £20 a month for 18months. Taken out about 4 months ago. 400 mins 300 texs. Unlimited landline calls. Free magic numbers. Free home broadband. Unlimited internet on phone. A dongle that has 500mg a month.

I find the free home broadband seals the deal. I managed to get the dongle this time round. The phone is naff but suits me.

Same here for me too.

OP, If you're kids dont use them much, why do you have contracts for them? Surely better to only get credit when needed?
Shocks me how much money people waste on mobile contracts, Id rather save my money to go on holidays and days out with family than waste my time on a phone!

The contracts meant they got a decent phone which they would probably have got at higher cost. Besides, we're not talking about much money and the biggie was getting the internet thrown in to the deal making it worthwhile. They were bought for gifts anyway!

Jeez, why am I trying to justify myself! oO

I go on holidays with the family to places like Bali. I don't need to save a few pennies to afford to. :p

GiffGaff £10 per month, 250mins, free GG to GG calls, unlimted texts, most importantly unlimited data :D Sometimes my per month cost can be lower if I can get hold of cheap o2 vouchers, payback etc! Using it on the recently posted o2 Samsung SG2 contract deal.

If you want free £5 credit pm me! :p

I think when they started and we saw the content (and he got embarrassed) he wished he hadn't! The funny thing - when I bought it, I just got it for me (just for the sim to use in an iPhone) and the salesman says "want another" and just thought, why not, its not much. Obviously 24 x £7.50 does add up, but I didnt think of it that way at the time lol

Guv,That 3 deal for a fiver is quite impressive, was it a retention deal?

Yes. Originally, it was on a contract costing £3.24pm - and came with a free phone, 100 mins and 300 txts (I think - and was a price glitch) When it expired, it got upped, but then they messed it up a bit and ended with crazy amounts for £5. Dunno why. I really just wanted the internet bit.

the lesser one, was only just agreed and had to go through hoops to get it as a new contract. (And only because they lied and I got them to listen to the phone call) They were supposed to match the retention deal, but ended up slightly less, albeit with more mins. Again way OTT for whats needed. But why say no when its on the table. Its not like they would half the amounts and I'd pay half. Its actually on line for £15pm right now - and I'll hopefully also get £80 cashback. (But being three, its unlikely as theyve failed to payout on my previous 3 contracts.)

How much do you pay a month for all of this? My tmobile upgrade is coming soon, trying to see if there are any better contracts than mine.
