  Check the sim contacts to see if there dirty/bent/snapped....

  try to clean the sim contact (gold) with an eraser rubber to remove any dirty

  If you have no luck and it still doesn't work. Open a case on ebay and say item is not as described, you SHOULD get your money back as they have mislead you..

  Hi guys, thanks for your replies.
  
  It is a LG Optimus 3D
  
  He purchased it in January and it's been working fine, that's why I was wondering if it might have been reported lost/stolen as sometimes happen.
  
  Wasn't sure what the phone would say if blocked ? Is there any where I can check ?

  This is the problem with buying phones from ebay, your knackered if you get scammed like this after the 45 days. I might be wrong but dont think there is much you can do now.

  Paid by paypal funded by my credit card. Not sure I will be able to make a paypal claim as past the 45 days, but might give my credt card company a call.
  
  Sent the seller a rather abrupt email requesting my money back, letting him know I made a note of his address from the back of the package, giving him until the end of the weekend to reply or cop shop it is on Monday !
  
  Might pop into the T-mobile shop nearby hoping if I can prove purchase plus I have the box and everything, that they may be able to unblock the phone, well here's hoping !
