Mobile Phone not keeping charge

I have a Motorola V3x on the 3 network and am 4 months into the contract. I didn't take out the insurance. The phone is no longer retaining it's battery charge with a full charge on standby giving about 18 hours. How do I go about getting the phone repaired or replaced? Should I contact Motorola, 3 or my retailer? Will there be a charge? I have 2 batteries for the phone and both do the same.

When you purchase goods through a retailer your contract is with them i.e carphone warehouse or wherever you got it. Just take it back to them, they will send it away for repair. Your phone will have a 12 month guarentee.

Retailer.

Law states an item must be fit for purpose and last a reasonable amount of time. 4 months old is rubbish!

My phone is from onestopphoneshop and i'm having problems with the handset too. I went to (parent company) Carphone Warehouse and ran off a list of problems with my phone and they said they could send it away under warranty for free repair - I was advised it can take 3 weeks though :-(

Most retailers exclude battery from warranty. But keep pressing for a replacement and you should succeed, as I did with Chatterbox :)

You have to get your own, hence i'm in a bit of a pickle:giggle:

I've asked around but no one I know has a spare handset at the moment.
My two previous phones are no good as one fell in the canal and now doesn't like me and the other has no screen as it made friends with a curb.

Speaking of phones, I actually lost my phone (Nokia N91) in a club at around 4am on Saturday morning and later this week the phone has been returned to me - how's that for honesty:w00t: I wish I could thank the person who handed it in. (I wish they'd fixed it for me first).

When my boyfriend was with Orange and his Nokia broke we just went into the carphone warehouse and they sent it off for him and he got a new one within a week.

He didnt get his phone from their originally, he got it from orange.co.uk but the man in carphone warehouse said that any phone within a years warrently they can either fix in store or send off if you need a new one.

They do this for free! can't belive its not advertised though!!

Sounds similar to the situation here in Lancaster. It appears to be a little known secret, but apparently most cities have an authorised repair centre which fix phones within warranty for free - They simply invoice the manufacturer.

They normally try to repair it and if they can't they send it away. They said it'd take up to 2 weeks to sort mine out. Might be worth going to Carphone Warehouse and ask if there's a local authorised repair centre.

Ours is called Lancaster Telecom.
