It would save me having to fork out another £100 on another iPod, by buying a micro SD card for the phone.

Yes you can use it in flight mode.
But not when the aircraft is taxiing, taking off or landing.

My last flight with easyjet to Malaga, no mobiles where allowed even in flight mode.

you dont have to have an ipod to listen to music.....they are crap anyway, a cheap creative or iriver or even sony mp3 player would be better
#5

I think some airlines/cabin crew staff mind and others don't.
I would say that a simple showing of the phone in flight mode should clear things up with them though, and the fact that 1. The passenger isn't talking or texting, and 2. There shouldn't be a signal at 40,000ft anyway.

Your phone makes no difference. Some airlines let you use your phone onboard.

It is up to the airline but i normally find they allow it

Great - just need to persuade the girlfriend to let me. She says she has been on a plan atleast once a year in the 18 years shes been alive. And she disagrees with me wanting to use it onboard :x

it doesn't matter either way...have it on...you don't think a mobile phone will be able to bring down a 400 tonne plane do you? If that was the case, why do terrorists still keep trying to smuggle explosives onboard when all they'd have to do is turn their mobile on and try calling Osama! :D

Just stick it on silent, dont even bother with flight safe mode, it wont affect anything anyway (do you really think if there was even the slightest risk it could cause a plane crash, they would let you take one on board ??)

I agree with everyone including your misses. On every flight I have been on for the last 5 years I have not been allowed to use my mobile even on airplane mode. I only usually fly 3-4 times a year and its nearly always a euro bugdet or a USA airline, so others may be different. Some airline now let you make calls at certain parts of the flights so long as they get a cut of revenue from any calls and texts you make, so I presume flight safe mode be ok on them. I wouldn't bother chancing it as in the current climate you dont want to **** off people on a plane. However im pretty sure there is nothing your phone could interfere with (unless you are flying AirFrance from Brazil).

Theres no evidence a plane will ever crash with a mobile phone, like petrol stations, power stations etc.... Just be discreet and if your plane crashes be proud you made history.

Also I heard the latest Samuel L Jackson movie is mobiles on a plane, the snakes on a plane sequel, a box of mobile phones opens and start calling out automatically. Cant wait, not sure it can live up to the first though
