Depends on the make, sony ericsson have the manufacturing date printed in them and it has a 2 year warranty from that, although sometimes you still need the receipt.

It's hard to say really, depends if they ask or not, I'd say 90% they will ask for a receipt though, or look it up on the system and see you're not the owner, I'd want the receipt personally.

Thanks for the info:thumbsup:

Carphone warehouse will repair any phone thats under warranty,(regardless of which shop it was bought from) in one of their repair centres but they ask for a proof of purchase. I took one into them, which was under warranty, didn't have a receipt though so they wouldn't entertain it. They scanned the imei and said also it wasn't bought from any of their stores.

It was on orange network,I then took it to an orange store, asked them could they check it on their system, they said no,I would need an exact date & place of purchase for them to even be able to check and they also said I needed to produce the original receipt

Im worried about this.
I have just bought a moby off someone on here and by the time i thought about this problem, it was too late!
They didnt have a receipt as it was just an upgrade.

What about if you get some moby insurance?
Im gonna look into that and hopefully it'll cover the phone for everything.

The warranty most likely would only be valid for the original owner anyhow,

Whoever took out the upgrade may not have a purchase receipt if the phone was free but they would have some form of paper work,

I'd imagine if you were able to take out insurance on it it would only be valid for loss/accidental damage/theft, rather than a fault developing with the phone that the warranty would have covered
