Mobiles.co.uk - ripoff merchants?

traceyh09traceyh09

So we ordered a phone with mobiles.co.uk on a cashback plan. It was £30, with £20 cashback in 4 instalments. Despite claiming three cashbacks on time, only one of them has been paid. To date we are owed £120 + another £60 next month. Mobiles.co.uk claim that our second cashback was approved, though the cheque never arrived. They refuse to answer our emails, (about 10 in total) and though we try to call, they simply do not answer the phone either. Carphone Warehouse, their parent company, also wipe their hands of all responsibility.

I would like to take this matter further. I have looked into contacting the telephone industry obudsman and mobiles.co.uk doesn't appear to be a member of either CISAS or OFCOM. Does anyone know if these companies will help you anyway.

Does anyone have any (serious) advice for dealing with companies like this. I would really like not to have to sue to get out money. They shysters have broken the contract they took with us in a number of ways, and reporting them is insufficient. I would also like the money that is rightfully ours paid out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you sent the claim forms by recorded delivery.
To get your money you need to take the court route. (there ignoring you)
write Notice of intended action letter giving 14 days to resolve.
start money claim after 14 days.

You should get a result after the notice letter or after they receive the court papers.

we took it via court and it was a waste of time
1- process takes ages as it relies on whether the defendant responses
2- even though if they admit liability they can still hold off from paying
3- by the time you get baliffs onto them theyre likely go bust
4- at the end of the day my losses increased by going via the court route

    wrong

the key to cashnack deals is to play EXACTLY by the rules set out

send claims by recorded delivery ON TIME

if you dont, then you can wave bye bye to the cheque

OP sounds as if your rant is a bit OTT - what part did you not follow?

Probably more than 1 claim involved since the term we is involved. Suspect 3 claims with the numbers involved

+1 on that they probably have a pot which they can pay out and everyone after that its tough. If everyone claimed as they should then they would go under end of. If it wasn't a con then they would just send you the money automatically, they could probably easily get confirmayion the bills are been paid etc and probably aleady do so they can budget for the possible cash back payouts to be made.

    YOUR not getting it

They must be witholding it for a reason - did you send the correct bill? at the correct time? by recorded delivery?

If not then no wonder you dont have your cash

If you are unable to follow simple instruction, stay well clear

£20 in 4 installments is still £20, not £80. 3 claims of £20 is £60. And, as someone else has said, there must be a second cashback deal here, to take it to £120. ;-)

sorry if my post wasn't clear. it's £20 per month cashback, in 4 installments (i.e. £60 per each installment), with two of them not paid out! - hence the £120.

Anyway, we resolved that by personally emailing the CEO of the company and threatening legal action. By the way his name is SIMON MASON... if anyone else has this problem with this company.

But now they are holding off on our 4th cheque of £60. I should also bill them for the time that they have cost me chasing this up....
